  • quit your shameless self-promotion, lt...
  • Yeah, really. You'll have to do better than that...
  • Subject: self promotion

well, if this bboard is in the name of information sharing, what's wrong with me putting up a blog that talks about ft greene and news about ft greene?

i thought competition is good for the soul.

unless you both were kidding around.
  • I think escap's smiley suggests he was kidding around. I was just trying to encourage a little freestyle. I mean, it's a discussion board, right?
  • Subject: ur right

    dailyheights, ur right...

to that end, are there any other ft greene -specific blogs out there?

i went to nyc bloggers.com but most of the sites on the lafayette site were for ppl who live here, but discuss mostly non-ft greene issues and are mostly of a personal blog sort...
  • Yeah, just kidding around ltj. We all know you have the premier Fort Greene blog around....
  • It's interesting. It hasn't even occurred to most bloggers that they could also blog about their neighborhood, and that people would be interested in reading it. They've got to be out there, though. Offhand, I can think of a dozen or more bloggers in Prospect Heights who write about neighborhood issues, at least sporadically.
  • Yeah, but personally speaking, I work in Manhattan, come from Vermont, live on Mars and just happen to rent in Prospect Heights. I find it difficult to be topic specific.
  • Well, that's my point... you are all over the place, but sometimes you post good stuff about the neighborhood.
  • Here's what you do. Get everyone to start using technorati tags, agree to tag neighborhood posts with "proho" or whatever, then pull an rss feed for that tag to dailyheights. It'll cull posts from the assorted blogs, but only those tagged proho or whatever and dealing topic specific to the neighborhood.
  • Cool idea. How does one add a technorati tag to a post? And after that, how does one start an RSS feed for that?
  • It's seriously easy and depending on what blogging service/software you use, there's plugins. Tags can also be entered manually. I'll draft a howto for you in a bit, maybe later tonight. Technorati publishes feeds for all tags, so that's no problem. I'll PM you later with the scoop.
