A compulsive knitter in the winter, looking forward to nights of netflix, needles and bourbon. I've been in the slope since March and I'm still in search of defaults--take out joints, bars, etc...

based on Precious' new avatar, i'd venture a guess that she was either making a joke  , or means that pitbulls are an important part of her life in the NEGATIVE sense  . based on other recent threads of guns and violence --whether real or imagined -- on some of the other boards seems to suggest negativity is also of great importance around these parts in general...

she's a min-pin gal, not a particular fan of pitbulls, Q. ...(sigh)... i don't think Kika (yours) or Lilith (mine) will be invited to Precious' house for tea and crumpets anytime soon.

I was just joking. However I am actually keen to get over my, perhaps unfounded, fear of pitbulls. I'd actually love to meet your dogs. I'm not sure how interested they'd be in a cup of tea though, LOL

oh come on. face your fears.
the worst that'll happen to you is you'll get your leg peed on.

no, no, Q. not fair. well, it's true, Precious -- probably pee is the worst thing you have to worry about. but Q, Precious has stated in another thread that she is nervous around big dogs (not just pits, but big pups in general). i commend her ENORMOUSLY for wanting to face a big fear, but i don't think facing hundreds of willy-nilly big pooches is the right approach.

tell you what... i am in the process of getting over an illness, but in the near future (let's say on a monday or friday, your choice) let's make a date to meet in the park. i will bring my two dogs, Q will bring his Kika, we promise to keep them ON-LEAD, and the three of us will just chill. Precious brings the tea (but not the min-pin this time, cuz we don't want to frighten the little one, too).

    Whaddaya say, P? Q?

  • Two most important things: my boyfriend and my cats (ok, there's 3 of them, but)

What I do for a living: freelance book indexer

Where in Brooklyn: Park Slope, since 1992

Where I grew up: Dee-troit Motor City

Why I live in Brooklyn: I actually didn't want to at first ... I moved to Manhattan in 1985 and was one of those awful people who didn't even want to visit friends in Brooklyn - then I found myself unable to find a place in the city I could afford. It's funny the way the best things happen sometimes.

I could try to list reasons for living here (diversity, history, etc., a decided unMichigan-ness), but it's easier to just say I love it and it's my home. I even have a 'Brooklyn' t-shirt, and I don't normally wear stuff like that.
  • What are the two most important things in your life?

    My wife and dog.

What do you do for a living?

I teach at CUNY-LaGuardia Community College

Where in Brooklyn do you live?

    Crown Heights

    Where did you grow up?

Shittsburgh, Pennsylvania, home of Iron City Lite and footbal meatheads, chipped ham and ridiculous accents.

Why do you live in Brooklyn?
Was going to Temple. My best friend was from Park slope and he took me to O'Connor's in 1993. At that point I knew that Brooklyn would be my home. I've been here since 97' and can't imagine living anywhere else in the U.S. I keep saying I'll leave the borough, but really can't get myself to do so. I dream of living in Coney Island someday when I wouldn't have to commute so far. Maybe I should get a job at Kingsborough.

  • What are the two most important things in your life?

Why do you live in Brooklyn?
Graduated university this past summer so decided to move in with my boyfriend while looking for a job in my field (Japanese studies was my major) and possibly grad school. Also, I feel like Brooklyn is a lot like Chicago (only dirtier)
