August 3rd: DOT and others listen to public safety concerns about Atlantic and Flatbush, again.

  • So, in other words, all the millions of dollars that the DOT spent to reorganize and rebuild this intersection are down the crapper? Typical for the DOT nazi commissioners.
  • Amazing that DOT doesn't seem to want to accept that this intersection was safer before they closed streets, stopped through traffic across Flatbush, got rid of left turns and all of the other gymnastics that they have undertaken in the last ten years. Better use of money would have been building flyovers for pedestrian traffic that could have allowed people to stroll leisurely from 4th Avenue across Flatbush and from the Williamsburg Saving Bank across Atlantic without actually coming into contact with any vehicles.

But instead, we get cars pushed into fewer lanes, no possibility of vehicular traffic diversions off Flatbush, pedestrians pushed into intersections that are confusing, bikers not diverted off of truck routes and bus traffic re-routed from secondary onto main roads. Its madness.
