looking for a mover to Clinton Hill

Hi--I'm moving to Clinton Hill soon (from Manhattan) and am looking for a good moving company. Anyone have any recommendations from the last couple of months?

thanks!

  • Hi Eloise,

I did lots of research on movers before I moved in April and saved it all -- here's what I've got:

    The Good Move
    917-584-5256
    John
This is who I went with on three different friend's recommendations; they don't offer insurance but they're cheap. Nice guys but they only sent two guys and it took several hours; probably not best for a big move unless you get them to agree to send more guys (which probably costs more). Very good with my stuff, though, and they were really nice, funny guys and gave me a lift to the new place.
    $70 per hour

    Rabbit Movers
    http://www.rabbitmovers.com
3 men with truck are $90 per hour
4 men with truck are $105 per hour
    2 hour minimum
Plastic bags for bed or sofa, $6 each
Can get insurance up to $300

I know several coworkers who have moved with these folks and LOOOOOVE them; the only reason I didn't go with them was because they weren't available at the time I had to move. Very nice, totally cute website.

    (212) 777-5507
    Jacob
    $192 hour insured
    1 hour travel time

This place is gay-owned and has big pink trucks: awesome. Really nice, highly recommended, and fully insured, but expensive.

    Big Apple Moving and Storage

    Donna
    4 movers and a truck: $144/hour, insured

    Brownstone Brothers

Didn't call these guys, but they were recommended by MUG

Also, check out CitiMove.com, you can get bids on your move and then pick from the ones that are interested, or just check out the reviews section.

Also check ANYONE you might hire on MovingScam.com!

    Hope this helps!
  • I used Brownstone Brothers, and although they were pricey, you get what you pay for. They come visit your place before the move and give you a binding estimate so you know exactly how much it all will cost (and there's no obligation on your part for having them come give you an estimate).
  • Thanks, both of you. This is really helpful!

  • I recently moved from Manhattan, and I used:

    Andy
    [email protected]
    718-238-8549

Rates: 2 men is $60 and for 3 is $75

They said a one bedroom is an average of 4-5 hours. I had a ton of stuff, 3 people and some weird issues that caused delays. And they still did it in 6 hours, which was amazing compared to my last movers.

It was well worth it, and they were quick, efficient, kind and everything arrived in perfect condition. The best moving experience I have ever had. I highly recommend.
