794 Nostrand Ave (Former Site of Nine Hair Studio)
Just ran into the barber that normally cuts my hair and he told me they got closed down officially on Saturday December 31st. There's no shortage of barbershops on Nostrand but a lot of them are pretty much a hole in the wall so this one counts as a loss in my book.
The landlord went through the process of renovating the upstairs apartments a while ago it seems, but I wonder what will be able to fill the space that the barbershop occupied.

Wow, this is pretty shocking. I've never been inside, but it always seems to be a pretty happening and busy place, I bet there will be lots of upset customers.
-
bummer. they were the owners of teh cool sneaker place that also closed down.

I saw last night that there is a community notice that Nine Hair will turn into "Bottle Rocket," which is seeing a wine/beer license.
-
If they are only serving beer and wine, they might include a real kitchen.

Update: CB8 reportedly was asked to review an application for a full liquor license.
-
The review went well, and the application is now (as of 5/18/2017) at the NYS SLA stage. https://www.tran.sla.ny.gov/servlet/ApplicationServlet?pageName=com.ibm.nysla.data.publicquery.PublicQuerySuccessfulResultsPage&validated=true&serialNumber=1302680&licenseType=OP

Any confirmation on what this place is? They are clearly putting a lot of work and money into the finishes. The new storefront appears to be made out of steel similar to Colina Cuervo. This makes me think the windows will be operable. They've also built a permanent entry vestibule for weather mitigation. Seems like it might be a real restaurant.

Might just be here-say but I heard Greek restaurant.

Application for Bottle Rocket is still in the pending stage.
Note, they are seeking a full liquor lic, so it is not unusual for it to take almost a year (paperwork was started back in May)whynot_31 said:The review went well, and the application is now (as of 5/18/2017) at the NYS SLA stage. https://www.tran.sla.ny.gov/servlet/ApplicationServlet?pageName=com.ibm.nysla.data.publicquery.PublicQuerySuccessfulResultsPage&validated=true&serialNumber=1302680&licenseType=OP
