That's my friend's spot. Great folks.

They will seek CB8's support on Tuesday for a lic

Business model: BierWax, 556 Vanderbilt Avenue (corner Dean) – Beer/Wine/Cider (live music, DJ, karaoke, employee dancing, gay night revues with drag)
-
Kind of a similar plan to Gold Star beer on Underhill (at least beverage wise) but I suppose the more fancy beer bars the merrier.
-
Might have a customer base similar to Friends and Lovers, on Classon near Dean.

Has this place opened yet?

Lic is effective as of 12/4/2017, so opening is now possible.

Got a chance to visit this place, and the bar is great. These guys are going to amazing business. It's stylish, classy and without the shame you feel when ordering a beer at Weatherup. A bar like this does not yet exist on Vanderbilt. High style, low pretension. And yes, I'm the guy who made fun of their silicon valley-ish proof of concept video. I'll eat my words, this place is cool.

Stopped by on Saturday, and I concur, this place is great. The vinyl behind the bar is the owner's personal collection, and he happened to be hanging out with patrons, discussing music while enjoying some libation. During the two hours my fiancee and I spent there, we heard A Tribe Called Quest, Nina Simone, The Kinks, and Lee "Scratch" Perry among others. In addition to the great music spun by the bartender, the bar offers 4 oz, 8 oz, and 12 oz pours (by lots of local breweries). This gives you the opportunity to taste a few selections, while not committing to a full pint. Finally, the backyard patio will be a pleasant place to lounge, once the warmer months have arrived.

I'm happy this spot is doing well, and it is certainly packed on the weekends. But a subsection of its patrons are loud and tipsy outside, and leave their drink cups and cigarette butts all over the sidewalk. This will certainly increase as the weather gets nicer. Never had to worry about that with former tenants Bopsot and Le Gamin.

Drink cups? Like beer glasses? If so, sounds like they probably need a bouncer on the weekends to monitor people coming and going from the front door.
Howdy, Stranger!
