Improvement to Eastern Parkway traffic signals on the way

This will be a huge improvement.

The pedestrian signals alone will help...

I'm having trouble seeing how this won't make this intersection way more confusing. Maybe because there are three traffic lights on Bedford, it'll keep people from trying to speed through all three. That seems to be the cause of the majority of accidents I've witnessed here. But a big thing is the placement of the turn arrow for the center lane turning off Eastern Parkway. It's ridiculous where it's placed. Almost every cycle of the lights, people are honking like crazy because the car in front doesn't see where the green arrow is, off to the side. But I digress... To me, this seems more about reducing the traffic turning onto Bedford, and will probably make the service roads more congested (and dangerous) because of how fast more people will be speeding down them because they are upset about having to go out of their way to turn down Bedford. Just my opinion, though. I do hope this does something positive. At least they are trying something. This intersection is currently horrible for pedestrians and vehicles alike.

I always hate it when I am trying to cross and someone speeds into that area between the service road and Eastern Parkway, forcing me to go AROUND the car and into traffic on either side. I hope that this new system will fix that.

This project has kicked off BTW. Looks like no more right turns on to Bedford from Eastern Parkway.

I don't see how it will fix it, especially if the traffic lights on the service roads are sync'd with the traffic lights on E.P.crownheightster said:I always hate it when I am trying to cross and someone speeds into that area between the service road and Eastern Parkway, forcing me to go AROUND the car and into traffic on either side. Did you mean no more right turns onto Bedford from E.P.? That's what the new traffic cones are supposed to do (as well as the somewhat hidden "NEW: No Turns" sign). But I've still nearly been hit by people now turning illegally onto Bedford from E.P., going around the traffic cones. I don't think this plan calls for any changes to Rogers, though. It seems as if Google now already knows of the traffic change, however. It now routes directions turning onto Franklin instead. Though I still stand on my opinion that this will create more congestion at Franklin, and still more confusion at Bedford.DDC said:This project has kicked off BTW. Ah, yep my mistake. No more right turns onto Bedford from EP. Corrected my previous post.

Glad Google Maps has already updated. Kind of amazing it picked it up so quick. Dunno if it’s allowed as part of the plan but I’ve also noticed cars turning on to Bedford from the EP service road.

They put up a no right turn sign but underneath it is a sign that says "passenger cars only". I know that sign is referring to Eastern Parkway but still, it's pretty confusing at first glance. I wonder if they are going to put pedestrian lights on the service roads soon? I've nearly been runover by drivers ignoring the stop signs almost daily.

Lots of construction activity at the three intersections along Eastern Parkway... Franklin, Bedford, and Rogers. Anyone know if this is related to the new traffic signals that were proposed for Dec 2017?

In DOT's defense, they did say "implementation begins in December 2017".
