Chinese/Western astrology
liftandcut wrote: I'm a pisces, virgo moon, scorpio rising, year of the rat, but that's all I'll tell.Liftandcut, I have a book that combines Chinese and western astrology and it's pretty amusing -- you might want to check it out sometime. I don't really buy into astrology in any serious way, but I think it's kind of fun.
Here are a couple of excerpts of what it says about Pisces/Rats:
This incisive character, a wizard by combination of receptivity and offense, serves best as half of a team. If there is one person who can play the game in hand with a partner and win almost every time, due to the very energy created by the partnership, it's the Pisces/Rat.Whaddaya think? Totally off base or no?
...
Pisces/Rats are sharp-tongued. They never defend, but always jump quickly to offend before they are attacked. These people affect snobbishness and seem status-conscious. But behind an air of self-importance and near haughtiness, the Pisces/Rat is a softie. If you looked in his or her hiddenmost cupboards, you would be likely to find stacks of old teddy bears and sweet little dogeared books of maudlin poetry.
...
The major talent of this attractive and trenchant person is his or her ability to adapt to the demands of any human situation that presents itself.

Whaddaya think? Totally off base or no?
Kind of accurate. I always defend, and I don't think I'm snobbish. I am highly adaptable and do work well with others. I can have a sharp tongue but I have to be pushed to use it and I don't really have a temper. It takes a lot to make me lose it. -

hmmmm.... I'm a Scorpio; but what's the moon sign venus IN Scorpio mean?? never heard of that?
Dunno. Someone wanted to do my charts a few years back and that's what I remember they told me. Oh yeah, and the fact that Sagitarii are always freaking awesome air hockey playaz. -

Second only to Aquarius on the air hockey table. -
There's a dozen websites that give you the Chinese Western Astrology combo, some of them operated by beer companies

I'm a Bunny Sagitarius, Virgo rising. Whatcha book say, Appollonia?

pitu wrote: I'm a Bunny Sagitarius, Virgo rising. Whatcha book say, Appollonia?
I'd look it up for you, except the book doesn't list "bunny" as one of the Chinese signs! It lists rat, ox, tiger, cat, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. What year were you born? You can PM me if you don't want to say here.

I'm a Leo/Goat:Leo's brilliance will couple nicely with Goat's hyperimaginative nature. These people have both the drive and the incisiveness necessary for all variety of artistic endeavor. Leo/Goats, however, hate criticism and usually pretend to ignore it by going right ahead and doing what they were criticized for all over again.
 -
Aquarius/ox?

yours is funny!

Right... but the book doesn't list rabbits of any sort -- it only lists rat, ox, tiger, cat, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

The image, then, is one of a fiercely productive person who appears not to give two hoots. His "like it or lump it" attitude lives very close to the fiesty surface. This person cannot hide his belligerence.

The Aquarius/Ox is a great storyteller, a stunning performer, and a laugh-a-minute companion. He benefits from an excellent memory for detail, and can grip your attention for hours with just one anectdote about his cousin from Tours who rides a unicycle. Ordinarily boring stories become jewel-studded tales from the Arabian Nights. -

ummm . . . hare?
I love the wiki entry
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_zodiac
The twelve zodiac animals
rat, ox, tiger, rabbit (or hare)
dragon, snake, horse
ram (or goat or sheep), monkey, rooster (or cock or phoenix)
dog, pig (or boar)
Inner animals and secret animals:
It is a common misconception that there are only the singular animals assigned by year. These yearly cycles represent what others perceive you as being: while a person might appear to be a Dragon they might actually be a Snake internally and an Ox secretively.
I think I'm part monkey! Not sure what I am secretly.....

Okay, Miss Pitu is a Tiger (at least in this book)/Sagittarius:
The Sagittarius born Tiger is a person who stubbornly, but charmingly, wishes to remain a child. These people love all the trappings of an adventure and gadgets, space races and long journeys to faraway lands... They fantasize about great adventures.
...
This person is a keen observer. he or she may attend gatherings or join in group activities solely for the purpose of watching... He or she will be fascinated by novelty and eccentricity.
...
Of voiurse this person is dealt a reckless and outspoken personality by birth. he is a victim of both Sagittarian and Tiger recklessness and swagger, hotheadednes and vacillation. -
triple capricorn here, but my birthday is on the very cusp of sagittarius. year of the dragon. actually according to chinese 5 element theory, water dragon.
...any thoughts, apollonia666? also, what book are you looking at? -

You're right! I looked it up in the table in my book and I'd gotten off by a line. Let me do that again -- Cat/Sagittarius:
Now this entertainment is wholly discredited
a tiger AND a cat as different categories? hogwash! This Sagittarian is not so brash as his brothers and sisters. A Sagittarian born in a cat year will be sensitive to his real surroundings, aware of the need for diplomacy and, because of the Cat's serious ambition, sagaciously yoked to his or her career.
...
The Sagittarius/Cat is highly individualistic. His or her methods are always unusual.
...
Generally, the Sagittarius/Cat is an amiable fellow... Cats born in Sagittarius conform to social norms and care deeply about what others think of them. They are not easy to figure out and have no intention of becoming so. -
Vanilla, the book is The New Astrology: A Unique Synthesis of the World's Two Great Astrological Systems
Okay, Sagittarius/Dragon:An admirable but not always gentle character, the Sagittarius/Dragon is a warrior on a grand scale. These people are attractive and ambitious. They believe in success and forge ahead with bravura toward that aim. Never bullish or hotheaded, this character's style is gentlemanly and dignified.
This book's always a hit at parties.
...
He or she can carry off deals and draw conclusions and make decisions without raising an eyebrow. But they don't like complication. They deplore deceit. Woe unto him that who cheats a Sagittarian Dragon... The Dragon born in Sagittarius can be snappish and sometimes caustic but is most often merciful and kind toward others.

what about capricorn dragon?
my b-day is december 22nd so it's always between the two... how do i know? what does your book say i am? -
vanilla wrote: what about capricorn dragon?
Ahh... well, in this one, anyway, it says Capricorn starts on December 22. And for what it's worth, the Chinese new year usually comes towards the in late January or in February; it varies year by year.
my b-day is december 22nd so it's always between the two... how do i know? what does your book say i am?
Capricorn/Dragon:Nobody condemns mediocrity the way the Capricorn/Dragon can. For people born in this combination of signs, prosperity as a result of personal toil amounts to the strongest hedge against the ordinary...
I think I'm going to stop now -- it's kind of a pain in the neck to prop this book open at my laptop. But I'll try to bring the book to the next happy hour!
The Capricorn/Dragon is talented for projects that ask for the vehemence and gusto. He likes to be thoughtful of others and gets a real charge out of the expressions of gratitude they shower on him in return. He's a crowd-pleaser, but not for gain.
...
The main drawback of this character's personality is his or her inability to say out loud what he or she feels inside.
...
This very genuine person makes a good lifelong friend. He or she will keep all commitments to loved ones and even stick out a neck once or twice if necessary. -

Okay, last one, 'cause I feel sorry for you being at work at 9pm!!

Cancer/Cat:
A startling combination of the home-loving and the home-loving, if the Cancer/Cat didn't have to go out and make a living, he indeed might opt to never leave the comfort of his perfectly decorated, carefully appointed and cozily efficient house. To a Cancer born a Cat, the center of his universe is his hearth... Don't get the idea that this person is a recluse. On the contrary, once he gets to know you, Cancer/Cat is a veritable bundle of amiability and chitchat.
...
Cancer/Cats are dependable too. And trustworthy. You can leave them your keys, your kids, your dog and your wife or husband and expect to return months later and find everybody sitting around drinking cocoa and playing Parcheesi
...
If pushed to the extreme, virtue has the bad habit of becoming self-righteousness or even pedantry. Cancer/Cats have to watch out for this tendency. ... Remember, Cancer/Cats are both crabs and felines. Superficially, they don't represent any real physical horror or menace. But in both creatures there is the real, ever-present, and close-to-the-surface possibilty of claws! -
hehe, thanks very much, apollonia!
of course, I don't think that's me at all. my house ... efficient? in what universe?

Okay, here's WhyFi -- Scorpio/Dragon:
When you add Dragon to Scorpio and mix well to blend, the batter thickens. Scorpio lends mystery and ruthlessness to an already plucky and boastful Dragon nature. Add a dash of swagger and some good old Scorpio vengeance and jealousy and you will concoct yourself a mighty baroque human being. This dish is spicy and copious.
Like cute little foster pit bulls, perchance?
…
This person is ambitious… They want to get places in life. They are combative and charming.
…
The Scorpio born Dragon has a hard time with moderation. He is drawn to excess and self-indulgence and has a tough time resisting the dissipation of his or her talents… The Scorpio/Dragon may seem invincible, but he’s still a Dragon and he’s sentimental. Deep down he weeps over stories about lost dogs.
Howdy, Stranger!
