cheap cool furniture - no bed bugs.

there used to be a bunch of garages around with cool used furniture for relatively cheap prices. lots of "estate" type pieces often found together and such. i am talking about those garages that are all musky smelling and you have to climb around and move stuff to find other stuff - rarely enough light but the price is always right. anyway, does anyone live by one of these places?

There was a place like that on 3rd Ave between Dean and Pacific.
  • stacey - that's where i got so much of my furniture & now the place is gone! they ruled b/c they would deliver for $10 !!! there was another place like this but a bit fancier on greene ave & classon(?) in clinton hill years ago but that's gone, too.

Oh man that sucks! I liked them too. They had some really nice pieces. Did you ever check out the Salvation Army on Atlantic between Bond and Nevins - they get some really nice stuff.

Also along McDonald Ave (right along the cemetery) some trucks used to sell new pieces of furniture - mostly couches, chairs and recliners and its real easy to make a deal with them. I dont know if they deliver them though.
  • Flatbush Ave - up a bit from PC Richard there are at least 2 places like this.

i think the place Will is talking about is between 4th & 5th Avenues.
  • Maybe its the place right on the corner Pacific and Flatbush which sells new furniture not estate pieces but they they do have some nice stuff and again you can bargain with them.
  • I don't live by one of these, but I have a way of tracking one down. Chat to some of the vendors at the market on 7th one weekend. Each of them probably has a warehouse stash somewhere. That's how I got my apartment set up in one go when I moved to NY; one of them invited me home then helped me move in. Awesome.
