anyone know of a liquor discounter in the area? i love slope cellars, and their prices are very reasonable. but i'm hunting for CHEAP. anyone?

(and FYI, the $3 trader joe's sauvignon blanc is pretty decent. but the thought of carrying a case of the stuff back here on the subway doesn't sound appealing)

  • what kind of liquor specifically -- wine, beer, hard stuff?

beer: East Coast Beer Distributors on 3rd ave & 37th (i think it's 37th, but it's right around there at any rate). great selection of beers, ales, ciders, etc. at really good prices.

wine/sprirts: i'm a fan of slope cellars, too. but occassionally i've stopped into the liquor store that shares space with Pathmark at 12th street & 2nd ave. some of the spirits are really cheap, and there are always some cheap wines on hand. can't say the wines are the best i've ever tasted, but you said "cheap" and that's the only place i can think of that fits your request :)
  • wine, and the hard stuff.

been to the pace at the creepy pathmark... but the prices weren't really discounted.
  • The place next to Costco....I remember buy tequilla there for a party once at very decent prices.

Locally, the place on 5th btw. 14th/15th usually has things a BIT cheaper than most other places.....Huge selection of (cheap) wine and full selection of booze (although I never bought any booze there).
  • Best prices in Brooklyn I've found is Brooklyn Liquors next to Costco, 39th St and 3rd Ave the selection is not big and the choices change so if you like something it might not be there when you go back.

I think the best place in town is Wholesale Wines and Liquores inthe city on Broadway near Astor (not Astor Liquors0
