Cell Phones from eBay? — Brooklynian

Cell Phones from eBay?

Just a question… but has anyone ever bought a cell phone (new or used) off of eBay? I’m trying to save a little bit of money. I am already under a Sprint contract which expires in November. I am already eligible to get a phone for $150 off in a mail in rebate. I would like to get a Treo which retail value at Sprint is like $649. Since I am not a new customer I would have to pay the $649 plus tax and shipping flat out, and then the 35 days to get a $150 rebate. If I buy it off of eBay I’d pay somewhere around $350 and get a free Bluetooth earpiece, plus only pay $5-10 in shipping and no tax…?

I only shop from reputable sellers, but someone told me if the phone is stolen that your wireless company will not activate it… just wanted to know if anyone had pervious experience buying a phone off of eBay?

  • I just bought an unlocked razr v3i (a better model than the v3 that's available in the US) on ebay. Its great, no problems, and the seller was very helpful. If you tell him what carrier you have, he'll set up the web and multi-media messaging for you (this is something that has to be done with an unlocked phone).

    His store is at http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZurbancomm2QQhtZ-1

The stock isn't huge, but after spending 2-3 days looking at cell phone seller's ratings, his were by far the best.

I think ebay is a great way to go--just spend some time researching sellers and you should do fine.

    Good luck!
