PS 9 playground improvement
This came across on the Prospect Heights Parents Listserv. I thought other folks might be interested. A representative of my household will be attending. Let me know if you want more information.
-------------------------------------------
A group of neighborhood parents interested in supporting PS 9 are
looking into helping the school improve its playground. We met in
August with the principal and with a representative from City Council
member Letitia James's office, and we are now looking into possibilities
and costs. It sounds like the city has some money for projects such as
this, and we also discussed working to raise funds for this project.
The next meeting to support the renovation of the PS 9 playground will
be on Thursday, October 5, at 6 pm at PS 9. The school is inviting the
PTA to this meeting, as well. (At the PTA meeting last week, there was
a great deal of interest in lobbying various city officials - including
Marty Markowitz and Hakim Jeffries, both of whom were at the meeting -
for support in this project.) Please feel free to attend if this is a
project you are interested in learning more about.
The meeting agenda is as follows:
(1) share findings / research on playground renovation
(2) discuss a Spring fundraising event (ideas that were discussed
previously
include a "Taste of Prospect Heights" event or an arts-based event)
(3) discuss next steps
-grant proposals
- playground research
- fundraising event
