Apartment Woes

Hello.
I have been living on 11th street for a while now and recently got a dog. I was oh so happy when... My landlord said he didn't want any dogs. So we were moving. I found this great place on 5th and union and signed the lease... or my boyfriend signed the lease. He had a death in the family and took off to CT for the next few months, leaving me to try and get our deposit back. That has been very unsuccessful and i don't blame him but... I could not afford to live there alone. So I'm still looking. I can't find an apartment that allows a 11lbs dog and a 10lbs cat. I can't find a studio or anything. I actually saw an apartment in east new york today. I can't live in east new york. I am trying to stay in my neighborhood... or even around it. If anyone knows of anything... anything at all... please let me know.
I don't need anything big... but if its super expensive then... two bedrooms so I can get a roommate.
I am great with kids and pets ... I have great references and a great job.
Please contact me...

  • Hi Valerie,

Please consider registering a username -- that way users here can still contact you but you aren't putting your email address out in public (if you do, we'll edit your email out of this post for you). Also, if memory serves me right, there is already a registered user here named Captain Salty, and going by that name here might cause people to confuse you with him.
  • Perhaps Captain Salty is her boyfriend (since it says there are 49 postings on that name)???

I still see her email and phone number in that posting........

D'oh! You're right. At first glance I thought it was a guest who wasn't logged in. And I *thought* from older posts that Captain Salty was a guy, but I could be remembering wrong.

    Long day, sorry.

Captain Salty, since you're registered, you can edit your post yourself if you want to remove your number and email address. I'd suggest not putting your contact info in posts here and asking folks to PM you, but it's up to you.
  • Hi Apollonia -- Slightly Off Topic --
A while back I think it was you who was recommending renting any apartments rented by a landlord (the Mannos). Just wanted to say that I agree with you that they are really nice landlords -- (We currently rent a duplex from them (and have for the past 9 years!)).

Oh, yeah! They're terribly sweet folks. Sadly, they didn't have anything available last time I was looking or I would have rented from them again in a heartbeat -- and they're the ONLY landlords I've had in NYC I can say that about!
