Subject: What's up with this building?

We just got an e-mail from http://www.razorapple.com and he wants to know what the deal is with 540 St. Marks Ave.: "I'm curious after seeing this stripped car about 50 feet away from where the glass tower is supposedly going up." A commenter on his blog say that they've been "pushing sand around" for at least a year now.

This is a project that is being done by Supreme Builders, the same guys that are building Pacific Blue, the series of buildings on Pacific between washington and Grand. The architecture firm is Loading Dock 5, www.loadingdock5.com, and they have a rendering of what the building at 538-540 st. marks will be here: http://www.loadingdock5.com/projects/stm/project.htm

The website says design is slated to begin in the spring of 2006 so it may be that they are still working on that portion. As of today no permits have been filed so it's hard to tell if the project is moving forward or not.

Pacific Blue seems to be coming along at a fairly steady pace. If you're not familiar with this project there are some renderings on the site as well and it's been written up in the real deal as well. It's a series of buildings with similar designs that will share common elements. For instance, one building may have a gym, another a rec room, etc. but anyone from any of the buildings can access whatever is available in all the buildings.
