    Give that man a cigar!
  • FYI, I walked by today and they now have an ATM! No idea if it's functioning though...
  • that bodega is under new management now, and it's much better stocked. it has full cases of beer, a new atm (yes, to replace the one that was stolen when someone SAWED a hole in the wall of the bodega and hauled out), and all sorts of new food and stuff. the new owners also own the bodega on underhill and sterling, to give you an idea of the new quality we're looking at. they also have cigarettes every day, not just on mondays! it's a vast improvement.
  • cool

i will have to check it out for myself

in the 3 years ive lived across the street from it i bought 1 bottle of gatorade 1 bottle of water and a packet of swiss miss hot coco.
  • Subject: The Truth...

    In case anybody's still wondering:

The man who ran the bodega previously (he never owned it), was a very sweet - and non-drug pushing - man from the Dominican. When the park across the street closed for renovations (almost TWO years ago), he lost a ton of business. Around the same time, the ATM was stolen. He told the owners he wanted out, and they tried to sell it. A childcare operator bought it, and the nice man stopped ordering anything for his store in anticipation of closing it down. The childcare deal eventually fell through. The owners got 'new' management (same folks that managed it many years ago, actually) and it's been restocked and cleaned up. They are very good people, too. The bodega is well stocked now - they even have newspapers - and once the park finally reopens, I'm sure they'll start to do even better and have more stuff. Give them your business! They have been nothing but sweet to me, and always greet folks with a smile. The more business they get, the better stuff they'll have... Right now, the kids going to and from school are their business - hence all the candy and bags of junk food. Nothin' like a quality diet for our neighborhood kids.
