Dog Friendly establishments? bars? etc? — Brooklynian

Dog Friendly establishments? bars? etc?

Can we compile a list of dog friendly establishments?
Winter's coming and I know there have to be bars around here that allow a dog every once and a while.

- KDogg on Lincoln Rd at Flatbush (Q train) : had water for dogs outside and lets you bring them in while ordering
- Muddywaters cafe on Flatbush (north of Grand Army Plaza) : Sells dog clothes and supplies water for pups, but they can't come inside
- Cheryl's global soul : Underhill at Lincoln Av : allows dogs to come in quick to order to go.
- Brooklyn Industry clothing shops in Park Slope

and....?

  • Isn't that funny about Brooklyn Industries? They are totally dog friendly - or maybe it's the individual dog-loving staff who run out of the store to pet passing beasts....

Any place with food service can't legally allow dogs,
but any place with a patio is usually a good bet. Tie the dog outside the fence or under your table, but where you can all see each other.

The Gate bar in PS is a dog magnet for that reason - big fenced-in deck.
I don't know what the deal with bars is, in terms of the Dept of Health...anybody? I think it's legal.

I hate to bring it up, but pals of mine had their boxer nabbed when they ducked in some place for coffee. Dog theft, for breeding or bait for fighting dogs, is not uncommon in NYC.
As big of a PIA as it is, I walk the dog then go back out for whatever.

thats what I'm saying!! i am scared to death that Aki is going to get taken if I leave him anywhere. He's a small Shiba Inu, and I've only seen maybe one in this area...

the Gate bar is okay with the dogs in the fenced in area? do you know the intersection?

i think its legal if there's no food being cooked. Whats up with the Cats in every bodega tho?

Cats in bodegas are absolutely necessary for rat/mouse control. Be happy they are there.

The Gate is on Fifth Ave at 3rd St., in ze Slope. There will be other dogs there, so he's gotta be a calm beastie.

There's tons of shibas in PS and the park. So cute and foxy!
You can't be lazy with the errands v dogwalks. If you want to be sure he's safe, you have to leave your super cute dog at home.

Or rush into a relationship so your SO can mind the dog while you run in the bodega...lord know tha's what I do.
  • haha i have a SO... but he works like 12 hours a day.

I always seperate my errands from my dogwalks, I just like a bar where I can bring a pooch.

Are there a lot of Shibas? I've seen 2 and 1 Jindo (the big korean version).

Thanks for telling me about the Gate, i'll check that out.

Do you go to dog hours in Prospect Park? Have a look Saturday morning before 9am. I see beaucoup shibas there, as well as skipping around the north/center Slope - I've seen more in the last few months than ever before.
  • I usually do the dog hours after 5 in the nethermead lawn in prospect park. my boyfriend takes him early in the morning, usually.
I see one of the older female shibas on Saturday mornings in the farmers market.

Is that your sharpei in the avatar? I always see one in the park, owned by a young Japanese couple. is that you?
