I've read the posts about sad, really bad experiences people have had at Fifth Avenue Cat Clinic.

This is about something a bit different but also sad...

They have two cats (kittens) in the window that are up for adoption.

A sign on the window says that they are looking to adopt one or both siblings because if they are not adopted by Friday "they are going to the CACC. They have been here three weeks."

First of all, the CACC (Center for Animal Care & Control, the city's shelter) euthanizes a huge amount of animals per day. By this clinic keeping these cats, they save other cats' lives and probably these cats' lives.

Secondly, they have room there. They have many empty cages so what is the big deal about them keeping TWO cats?

Then, to confuse matters, there is a sign on one of the cages that says : "the orange and gray cat are on hold." And yet when I walked by and was peaking in the window with another gentleman who was considering the orange one, a woman inside motioned to us ... like 'do you want them?'

I have no idea what the story is but 2 things...

1) if you are thinking of adopting 1 or 2 cats, can you call there? The # is : (718) 398-1187 There's a very young, adorable orange one and a sweet, little bit older gray one.

2) Can you contact them if you agree with what I outlined and ask why they can't keep the cats until they get adopted? I think it's better not to be hostile about it, just firm and direct. email: [email protected] & phone #: 718/398-1187.

I walked by and felt a sick feeling in my stomach - it's so unnecessary that they are putting this out there, and threatening to bring the cats to CACC, which is close to a death sentence - and they know that.
