In looking for bars to check out in Brooklyn, I saw this place in Sheckys.

Anyone been here? Have a review?

It's okay. Kinda cramped if you get more than ten people in there. I don't like that spot because there's nothing around late at night--even the flats fixed places are closed so it can be a little eerie. It's an okay bar but nothing to write home about.

Subject: Cherry Tree for me!

Yeah, I've been to the Cherry Tree a few times since I moved into this area. I've mostly gone during their happy hour, which they do most of the days practically all day (great deals). It's a fun place, nice low key vibe. The bartenders are great and the owner is a kick to talk with (when you can understand him! Very thick accent!). Really nice people and great beer. They have tons of weekly theme nights (that you really should investigate! Fun stuff) and yes the beer bongs are present but it's not a dumb college frat bar. Instead, you actually get a good mix of different people. It's very unpretentious. It's exactly what 4th ave needs. They are doing food now too. They just got a brick oven in the back garden and are going to set it all up so you can eat pizza and all sorts of good grub!


Another nice bar just opened up across the street from them. Also, great owner and friendly barkeeps. It's nice to see 4th ave joining the Park Slope family and not being so scary anymore.

I've been a couple of times. Thay have a fairly large outdoor space that I enjoy (but recently there has been some construction in the back that has made it a bit cramped). However I do love that they have a list of the weeks top drunks on the wall. And you can get a half liter of Hogaarden for $7.
