A lot of the time the best way is to take the Q or N to 14th St and then take the L out.

Probably take the B/Q at 7th Ave to 14th St/Union Sq and change to the L. Alternative, yes, you could walk to the G but the G doesn't run very often, every 7 min at the least durrinig the weekday rush hour -

thanks to the rest of you for the travel advice...i was afraid that the L train would be the only way but posted this on the off chance there was some kind of great bus that goes up north. L train it is! -

Depending on where in Williamsburg you're heading (and where you are in S. Slope), you might want to look into the B48, which runs down Classon/Franklin and takes you to the East side of Wmsburg. You can also go to Bedford and catch the B44, which runs down Bedford, ending at the Williamsburg Bridge.

yeah, I just found out about this bus from hopstop - it takes me practically door-to-door to a friend's place in Greenspoint. hurrah! buses sometimes rule.
