The Historic Chapel @ Green-Wood Cemetery
The Green-Wood Historic Fund proudly presents New York Times
staff reporter James Barron, author of the newly published and acclaimed book Piano: The Making of a Steinway Concert Grand.
In Piano, Barron tells the story of one Steinway & Sons piano’s creation from raw lumber to finished instrumentâ€â€an 11-month journey through the Steinway factory where tradespeople carry on traditions begun more than 150 years ago by the immigrant family who founded Steinway & Sons. Each piano, handmade in Steinway’s “anti-manufacturing†process, is proof that time-honored techniques continue to create
the gold standard of musical instruments in today’s automated world.
Barron’s presentation will be followed by a walk, led by the author and Green-Wood Historian Jeff Richman to the Steinway family mausoleum.
Admission is free but space is limited.
Call for reservations (718) 768-7300.
The Green-Wood Cemetery: Main entrance is located at
