Concrete Blocks - need help getting rid of them

I've got two large (6' x 2' x 2') concrete blocks in the West Village I'm trying to get rid of. If you'd like them OR if you have any ideas about who I might call to cart them off, that'd be great.

They don't even need to go to a new home!

We can, but we're trying to do that as a last resort. There's a long story behind these blocks and to make it short - we're trying to invest as little time, energy, and money into their removal as possible. Although it would make for great photos, we are hestiant to pour another day down the sink and rent a jackhammer and pickup truck. But it may well come to that.

Subject: sledge & bags

Grab a sledge (or a rental jack hammer) and a day (or with more 'crete, several days).

Goto a masonry store (not Home Depot, perhaps Raniere's near Lowes on 2nd Ave & 13th St) and grab some " empty sand bags" (empty, of course, wait for the look...) which are cheap. Fill them up to about 15 lbs.

You are allowed 6 "bulk items" per DSNY "bulk nite" (normally recycling nite). May take a while, but the cheap & easy way to get rid of it. (PS. you of course, God forbid, might get a "special pick up," but hold out for the "tips," which should not be necessary).

Otherwise, call a cartage company...

My wife and I put out MANY bags for weeks ( to the angst of our surly DSNY employees, and I say that nicely, since we live next door to a retired DSNY who call's them "wimps"). Fun all around.

Final equation (which you already know): time vs. money = happiness/less head ache. Depends on your bankroll.
