Theft at NY Sports Clubs

Hey - I just wanted to give a heads up to people who use New York Sports Clubs and possibly other gyms. I caught someone breaking into my locker in the Cobble Hill NY Sports Club last week. He had broken into the locker in under a minute while I went to a vending machine and stole my credit cards. He managed to get away in a livery car after I confronted him with some of the staff.

I filed a report with the police and identified him in a photo lineup so the cops know who he is but they have been unable to apprehend him. I was given the impression he has been doing this for a while. He picks the padlock and takes credit cards from wallets but leaves the cash and may be able to relock the lock so people don't notice he has taken anything until they go to use their credit card.

He's a white male, late 30's to early 40's, about 210 and 5'8" to 5'9" with a goatee.

Although the staff was helpful I don't think NY Sports Clubs does anything to stop these thefts from happening besides posting signs that they are not responsible. No cameras and no way to review who has entered the club within the last hour.
