Voting

Is there an online resource that clearly states who's in the running next week for our district and what their issues are? I'd like to know more about who I'm pulling that lever for but can't seem to find something comprehensive.

    These should help:

    http://vote.nyc.ny.us/offices.html

    http://www.nyc.gov/html/vidvoter/home.html
  • Wow, I didn't know there was a "Rent is Too Damn High" party! (Bottom of second link). Found lots of hits on Google--has it never been discussed here? Here's a link but it seems to be broken now: http://www.rentistoodamnhigh.org/
  • I was actually trying to for a site to do this same thing today and I found this:

    http://www.smartvoter.org/2006/11/07/ny/state/

It has State Senate, Assembly, etc. and links to comparison pages and candidates' pages.

This site is the closest thing I've found. My previous state had a website where you entered your address/zip and it told you exactly what you *could* vote for... all federal, state and local races (and only displayed the races for your district) and all propositions, etc. It really was a no-brainer. I still feel like I have to work a bit to find everything here. And, in every race so far, there have been surprises for me on the ballot, which is a shame.
  • Hey thanks guys. Now here's another question - and it should be noted that I feel sheepish having to ask - how late are the polls open tonight at the Underhill PS?

I think the polls close at 9pm.
