Go to Deacon Blue Cafe!!!
I just joined this message board though I've lived here for 9 months. I just discovered Deacon Blue, an aparently new restaurant/cafe on Prospect Place and Grand. So good! The food was delicious and the people were SO nice. (The menu is mixed, contemporary american/comfort/soul/carribean) I was so happy to discover it I thought it only right to share.

I beg to differ. That place is TEH HORRIBAL. The interior is like thousands of diseased, furry animals, rubbing up against my skin on a cold, moonlit winter night in Toledo, Ohio. I was served leathery strips of processed meat with oily beer. At some point, an old man died of a heart attack from the music that was played, and his body was thrown out onto the curbside for pickup. So Bad! (The menu is mixed, contemporary pig fat/distress/zombie/cat food) I was so unfortunate to discover it. Now I have cancer, thanks to Deacon Blue.

Actually, I had a great experience there. Seems like a lovely establishment, good and interesting food choices (they also deliver) and the owners/workers I met were really wonderful!

OH NY GOD, I'm crying and laughing at your post Alan. Now I have to go, I'll wear a paper haz-mat suit. Is the chalk outline from the dead guy still there? -

I was going to walk the dogs over for a midnight snack, but the homeless had already finished him off. DSNY only picks up bodies on Monday and Wednesday mornings. -
Subject: Thanks Deacon Blue
Check this out! With so little refining you're like Leonard Cohen! Still crying and laughing here. Oh my God, someone get me a tissue before I short-out my board!alan wrote: Thanks Deacon Blue

My husband & I tried it for the first time last night... great meal, incredibly friendly service. We'll definitely be back.

Went in, got solid, salty fish & chips. BYO; bottle of something by Rogue from the bodega across the street. Cool place.

Ah yes. I like places where you can tote your own licker.

Got delivery yesterday. Roommate reports the ham sandwich is excellent; I found the fried chicken delicious if not crispy enough (though it shared its berth with mashed potatoes and buttery green beans on the way over, so maybe that accounts for it). Everything quite good though. Great addition to the 'hood.

noticed this place today, after having let the laundry pile up so long that i had to take it to the laundry king, or whatever that place is called now, over on grand to use the huge machines. anyone have any idea about the vegetarian-friendliness of this place? everything described above sounds pretty meat-laden.

there is a great grilled vegetable sandwich on rosemary bread

the smoky penne is DELICIOUS. penne in a chipotle cream sauce, and plum tomatoes and mushrooms and feta cheese on top. insanely good.
Howdy, Stranger!
