It's sunday at 9:40- all I am hearing (down on vanderbilt perhaps?) has been a parade of 20 minutes or more of sirens...(we are on underhill near washington) They haven't stopped.

hello there. i was just in a car with a friend around the hood. there was a fender bender around flatbush and sterling pl, but other than that, i didnt see anything unusual...however, i hear sirens too now. that incident surely didnt warrant the number of sirens im hearing now though.

yeah, they are not stopping. At first I thought maybe it was a car alarm but they vary in volume and I can tell they are passing cars with sirens on...my kitty on my lap won't let me get up and see if I can see lights, but I just hate how long they have been going on.

you know. come to think of it.. this blaring is constant, and i am guessing this is just a house alarm thats been going off, especially if youve been hearing it straight for 20mins or so. isn't very firetruck/police car sounding.

A very good one if it is- the sound varying is intense. Like I said, like cars passing. But sorry to worry anyone if that's what it turns out to be!

no worries. i just remember setting off my alarm in suburbia as a kid, and it sounded exactly like what im hearing now (varying in and out), and it was so deafening that you could hear it a mile away. i also set off my cousins alarm once, and it was the exact same intensity. she lives in a brownstone too. imagine what these peoples poor neighbors have been listening to on their block, if we can hear it all the way over here!!!!

just changed the name of my post to reflect that. alarms have gotten pretty amazing. thanks for the confirmation that i wasn't going insane. just maybe a little deaf. Nothing compared to the real neighbors, like you said!

had i just not been in a car driving around, and i heard all of these sirens, i too would have thought something more was going on.

welp. its time to watch the wire. have a good night! and next time, make your kitty allow you to get up and be a window watcher!:)
