what the $#%! is with the businesses on henry street

I have only been living in bk heights for 3 1/2 years and i can hardly think of any businesses that have survived that duration. The amount of vacant places is just weird. Start with that Thai place that was next to Clark's diner. One day it was gone with a sign saying they lost their lease and it's been vacant now for well over a year. Then there's the debocle around the corner where bagel lady used to be. First it was some gross sports bar with a basement "Lounge" that looked like my 14 year old brother and senile grandmother collaborated in decorating. Then it was "Citronelle" for half a minute, now it's an overpriced steakhouse??? I believe it's owned by the guy who has Cafe bon Gusto on Montague. The most disturbing blocks are on Henry from Orange to Middagh. First came the blue pig ice cream place....fine, it's cute. But courtesy of the owners of that place come the next 2 "Afficianado" and "Food Maestro", both of which have the same cold uninviting decor. The first one still is yet to open up shop, the latter has been open for about 2 months and I've never seen more than one person eating in there. THEN across the street in the space formerly and briefly occupied by Cubanito we have signs saying "coming soon Blue Pig Party Place".....I don't even want to know what that means, or if it will ever happen considering the disaster that Food Maestro is. Next door to that was the old video store, probably the coolest place brooklyn heights had. I snuck a peak in there last week and it is being turned into a restaurant type thing, i forget what its called..something about a bicycle? I'm starting to wonder if it's also owned by the blue pig people. Oh and I almost forgot the candy store gross place that's been empty for a while. Then there are two empty store fronts on hicks, one was a kids store, thats been empty for a while. The ONLY good thing to come along in this neighborhood is Jack the Horse on cranberry and hicks. In the formerly empty forever liquor store. It has really good reasonably priced food and decent wine and beer list. All of this crap in just a few block radius and I don't even have the energy to attempt to get into Montague street AKA Realtors Way......
