Catholic Church

Is there a Catholic Church in the nabe where I could go to Mass on Sunday?

I'm feeling particularly spiritually bankrupt, and, you know, it's time.

Oh, Latin! I've got bad memories of high school now...

Hey now. It's not just for high school you know.

i took NINE years of latin, somehow. everyone in my family had to. i hated it at first, but it started getting fun when we began translating homoerotic poetry in college. those romans sure were kinky, let me tell you.
  • We attend St. Teresa's -- I enjoy the mass and the organist is quite good.
  • six years of latin, glad im not the only one

    arma virumque canto
    troiae qui primus ab oris

still runs through my head some days when I can't sleep, although originally i knew the first 25 lines. Our latin teachers were the dirtiest old ladies ever, and the raunchier your translation, the better your grade. sigh.
  • I only took 5 but junior final was the first 11 lines of the Aeneid. It's still drilled in my head 7 years later when I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night!
  • I have attended St. Teresa's twice. The pastor, Fr. Ahorn is a wonderful man. Check it out.

Thanks, I think I'll try St. Teresa's. I wish I knew some Latin but it seems wrong to start a new language when I'm supposed to be fluent in the one I use at work when in actuality, I've been faking for 9 months.
  • criminy, i never took latin...but i know what those words mean! i guess you can removeyourself from the church, but the church never removes itself from you. st. teresa looks to have a pretty good group of people attending it, and its got a really good thrift store too :)

Hey, did you ever get a photo of that church? You had mentioned an idea for a post.
  • That church is really cool-looking, from the outside anyway. I love the deco railings.
  • Andy:
Yes, it's forthcoming. I'm taking pictures tonight. Will send in shortly thereafter.
  • semper ubi sub ubi

was the moto of a club in college.

The inside is nice as well... a bit shabby in places (from weather damage, age, etc.). I find the pastel interior and stained glass windows uplifting.
