Mmm, BEER.

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Looks like the C-town on Washington (bet. Park and Prospect) has just decided to scrap the lunch meats section in favor of TONS OF BEER. Take that, meat! Time to go to C-Town and get tipsy! 8)

funny b4 all you hipsters moved into what was prospect heights things were a lot different. not that change isnt good but trust me 2o years ago when i was growing up only people that were on the side opposite of Ctown were the welfare moms and the crack addicts and drug dealers. Even up till about 5 years ago it wasnt safe to walk down the street remenber uhh Amy Watkins that white lady that got killed for like 3 dollars, man that shit shocked the neighborhood and there were all sorts of outcries and vigils. so what Ctown has stocked the aisles with beers hey its better than the crack vials and food stamp booklets that used to litter the street
  • I hate Ctown. ITs nasty. MetFood (vanderbuilt) and KEyfood (flarbush) are where its at.

Also, speaking of thta liquor store - its a sad sad day when the liquor store opens before the F*ing hardware store!!!

and btw, if you think that im anything less than abjectly thrilled that i can now get 50 different brands of beer in my neighborhood, youre way off...

You couldn't have more grossly misread the post. It's a celebration of beer! I personally love the fact that the Met Food on Vandy has expanded its beer selection.

Now, if only they'd put in a 'take away syringe' deli counter, it'd be perfect!
  • I heart the beer section at Met, but it's kind of far to carry home for me... this is the best news I've had all day! :D

hahaha totally. isnt it funny that the ones who have the most knee-jerk things to say on here are usually the ones who either misread or misinterpret the original point? its just like some people come here with such a chip on their shoulder or craving to trash-talk that they cant contain it, even when its not even vaguely on point or at all appropriate.

they might as well be saying "nice beer photos, but let me digress about crack and death for a while!" lol!!
  • By the way, I take deep offense at being called a hipster. There's a reason I don't live in Williamsburg.

its definitely worth braving the wafts of salted-whitefish-stank for, if you ask me!

    Absolutely! (Though...ugh, that's really saying a lot.)

Also re: "Let me digress about crackheads"...exactly.
  • I just found this forum, and it cracks me up that Im not the only one who thinks these things (whitefish, liquor store, etc) anywho...

THe metfood beer selection is great - i have to go back to ctown to see what beers they have. If its jsut yellow fizz, I'll stay with metfood.

    EDIT: spelling & grammer.
  • Nice. But do they carry Quilmes?
  • I'm still lookin' for the Mickey's handgrenades... but i hear that one would be hard-pressed to to find those in the east...
  • Ah Mickey's sigh...

"When you want to get the party started"

Now where the hell is my fixed gear bike and trucker hat?!?

Hipster! Don't step on my crack vials!
  • Has anyone been to the distribution place? What's the selection like? Are the prices better? Do they only sell by the case or keg?

I need answers and I have ways of making you talk!

I'm feeling a little psychotic about the prospect of them taking my meat away! :D
  • i'll trade brown meat for amber beer anyday...
  • Heck yeah! That meat was eat-at-your-own-risk anyway. Although the MEAT meat (not the lunchmeat) is worse.

    (*Queasily remembers greenish beef*)

You think the MEAT meat was bad... Shit, at least you didn't experience the MEAT MEAT MEAT meat. That stuff was messed up. Give me carneviento any day. :P

I used to live across the street. The first time my roommate and I went in there, we were standing at the register waiting to be rung up and a cockroach ran across the conveyor thingy. My roommate grabbed a box of crackers and smashed it before it could cross the counter. We looked at the cashier. She looked at us, then at the roach, then at us, then she kind of sneered. It was sublime.

    I never went back.
