cablevision dvr noise

hey if you have a cablevision dvr do you find it to be overly noisy?
when its on and the disk is spinning mine makes a noticeable humming sound.

it isnt really a problem when im watching tv but every-night at midnight it turns it self on " to update the channel guide for the next day i presume "
and sometimes it wakes me up.

unfortunately there is just a thin wall between my bed and my tv in the living room.

im trying to decide if i need to have it replaced

You know what? I just noticed the same thing. But, not enough to do anything about it, unfortunately. I've never inquired about it but glad to know its not just my unit. If someone hears from Cablevision on this, let us know.

We just got cable and DVR about 2 weeks ago, but that sound actually woke me up the other night. It's the same sound as when I put a scratched CD into my computer. Endless spinning and resetting. Buh.

live in bayridge and have Time Warner version
does the same thing

Mine did that and I got Cablevision to replace it right after it was installed. The new one is much better, though it still whirrs randomly.
