I'm sure you've all heard this story, but it made me really happy and also made me think.
Would I have done this?
How could this hero have just brush it off so easily?
(I would be in some serious mental state after an accident like this. He's a amazing!!)
But will he be remembered?
He's a navy vet, and working construction, with 2 little kids to feed.
What does this say about our government and society? Do heros only get a quick mention and then it's back to Bush and big money....
:-k humm just thinking......

I love this guy!
Today's NYT article said someone offered scholarships to his kids, Trump has a check for him, the school the rescued guy goes to gave him $5000. I'm glad he's getting a financial reward too, as well as being the most awesome NYer.

Aww nice!!
Did you also about the guys that caught that baby that fell off the 4 story fire escape?! -
What an awesome dude.
-
There's a big story on the catching of the 45 lb three-year-old (!) in the NYT metro section today. He bounced off one guy's chest and into the arms of the other - incredible! That's alot of weight coming down from the fourth floor!
The babysitter he was at (who everyone in his building seems to like and use) doesn't have window guards. I hope that landlord is made to do the right thing - it *is* city law. -
I saw that guy on NY1 this morning -- he was hilarious! Paraphrased: "Yeah, from as far up as he was, when I first saw him I thought it was just a little baby, but then when he passed the second floor I realized oh my God that's a BIG GIANT baby!" It was early and I was just having my first cup of coffee, but it was something like that. He was just flat-out funny.

I think this child went out on to the fire escape - I don't think you are allowed to have window guards on the windows to a fire escape. -
Saw the "Subway Saviour" on NY1 this morning. He was receiving a medal from Bloomberg and a host of prizes. It was sweet to see his daughters there, too. I heard he was on Letterman last night...Gotta tell you, it may be too early to call it but this just may be the "feel good" story of the year.

I don't know a thing about babies and kids, but that seems damn heavy for a 3-yr old. Maybe I'm wrong...but nothing saddens me like the sight of overweight toddlers.

I love that this man is black too. So many people assume that black men are more likely to rob you or kill you than do anything to help you. What a lovely man!

Better yet, write a screenplay! I'm sure a hollywood studio could help stretch it into a 90-minute CGI-effects action-adventure, starring Samuel Jackson. -

You're obviously not black. If you were, you'd appreciate what a breath of fresh air it is to have a black man in the paper for being a superhero. Black men are usually in the paper because they are suspected of mugging, shooting or raping somebody or because the cops have shot them. Of course if it's a black music star or Hollywood actor, they don't have to be involved in crime to make it into the paper. -

Samuel Jackson would tear it up! He'd be like, "There's a MotherF@@kn Man, on the MotherF@@ken Tracks!"

It is sad indeed when small children weigh the same as Paris Hilton and her ilk. On both ends.

If they can make an entire SLJ movie about Snakes on a Plane, then, yes, this is far more worthy subject matter. -

Are you sure they didn't just catch Nichole Ritchie?
:P -
Nah! Nicole wouldn't be caught dead falling from a rental unit.
-
Nice!
-
Isn't that little Nicole fool in jail around about now?
-
Idlewild, you rock dude.
Howdy, Stranger!
