laundry service — Brooklynian

laundry service

psycht
edited November -1 in Park Slope
I'm very new to NYC/Brooklyn. I just moved up here from Atlanta and back home never had to worry about sending my laundry out (I had my own washer & dryer). So I go to this nearby place on 5th near Key Food and for about 17lbs of clothes it costs $13.50.

My question is, is this a good price for drop-off service? I didn't ask for anything special to be done, so if it is a reasonable price then I'm cool with that. However, if there are other laundry places that might be more competitive, then i'd like to check them out.

Not complaining, just curious. 8)

Thanks.

  • That seems a bit excessive.. the place on 5th and 13th (next to lucky 13) charges 50 cents/pound, I think. Plus the old guy who runs the place is to die for!
  • Check out the prices at the 4th ave & Douglas/Degraw (?) laundry. The people there are nice and though I don't do drop off service, I do know the washers are cheaper than the 5th ave place you're going to now.

I used to go to the one by Key Foods, but really the 4th ave is much better and just as close.
  • Mamacita, where is Douglas/Degraw? I'm on 4 & Pacific, so if its not far, I'll definatly give it a go. Thanks.
  • If you're on Pacific and 4th ave, then it's about 7 blocks from you towards Sheep Station bar, past the Cherry Tree, on the same side of the street.

Actually, there's another Laundromat on 4th ave just before this one. That's closer to you and they are probably good because I've seen them taking in lots of drop off clothes when I've walked by. Also on the same side of the street.

Hope that helps, sorry I'm horrible about directions.
  • Thanks. I'll keep a look out next time I walk that way.
