  • -mustard from the tap into fun little pots, at maille
-some say it's dreadfully cliche but if you can bear the wait the chocolat africain, at angelina is ridiculous (only if you like chocolate, and/or hot chocolate)
-if you have the time, the flea market is fun (sunday only, i think)
-still one of my favorite dinners, at aux lyonnaise (alain ducasse, bistro)
  • We rented a flat via www.ahparis.com last spring. Our friends went through the site the year before and we both had great experiences.
  • Pick up a copy of Rick Steves Paris guidebooks. He discusses the neighborhoods he recommends, what they're like, and what hotels he recommends from the cheapest to the expensive.

Oh, and the rest of the book kicks ass.

  • Check out the Rue Cler neighborhood. There's a street market every morning on Rue Cler. That's the neighborhood I stayed in. You can pick up fresh cheese, bread, you name it and take it to the park to eat. Food wise, this might be the nabe you want to stay in. Check out Cafe du Mache.

I found this link on Rue Cler: http://www.parismarkets.net/RueCler.html

There's this ridiculously good falafel joint by the St. Michel metro station called Maoz. They have a fixings bar that is outrageous! Very cheap and delicious and near Notre Dame!

Of course, get your street crepes with either nutella or just butter and sugar. I lived off of this, along with fresh croissants and au laits!

EDIT: This is where I stayed. I loved it and they were friendly and the breakfast, on the day I chose to eat in, was great: www.paris-hotel-tulipe.com
