Fancy garden/plant shop in Park Slope? — Brooklynian

Fancy garden/plant shop in Park Slope?

....maybe on 7th Avenue? They have a wind-powered trade sign with a hand holding a trowel painted on it? Anyone know what it's called or where it is? I think I passed it once or twice, although I very well could have dreamt it up......

I'm looking for a jasmine and my regular plant guy is closed for the winter.

  • I can almost picture the one you're talking about...can't remember exactly where it is either!

I checked on Yelp, and it lists the following:
    1. Park Slope Florist 7th ave and Garfield
    2. Root Stock 7th ave and 7th St.
    3. Birch and Blossom 7th ave and 13th

I think you're referring to Root Stock? Does the location sound right for the one you're thinking of?

Also, there a really fancy one called Blooms on Fifth at 5th ave and 8th st.

    Good luck!
  • I agree - you're thinking of Root Stock. A few years ago (Kerry) Quade who owned a shop doing floral arrangements (on 7th near 15th) merged with the guy who owned Root Stock (which does plants).
  • It might be Root Stock; I'll check them out this week in any event. I think it was sort of over that way, but I was paying more attention to my 2 Little Red Hens cupcake than to the street signs :-(

Thanks for the info..good to know about the other 2 shops as well, in case Root Stock doesn't have what I'm looking for.
  • Try zuzu's petals. Berkeley and 7th. On Berkeley.
  • Boerum Hill you've got a pretty cool shop on Hoyt and Pacific called GRDN. Details here

  • I looove GRDN; I've been meaning to buy a bird feeder from them..and their bulb selection is more than decent. Plus, the ladies who work there are super-friendly.

I went to Root Stock and although they didn't have a jasmine, I bought a lovely (and tiny) orange tree and an African violet.

I'll guve Zuzu's petals a look this weekend...
  • Zuzu's is good. Simon is great for cut flowers. He's on 7th Ave between Garfield and 1st. There's also an outfit on 3rd Street between Bond and Hoyt. She usually does requests in the potted plant area. She has a very weird schedule however.
