Furniture stores?
Hello,
I moved to the neighborhood about three months ago and am living in a very friendly building on St Marks near NY Ave. Because I am usually content to eat my meals hunched over my desk I have not yet invested in a kitchen table, but I have decided to have some people over and have realize that a table and a few chairs would be a good thing to have.
Because I prefer to keep it local, I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for good furniture stores in the area. I checked out this place on Nostrand b/w Dean and Pacific, and though they have a pretty good selection, I am curious to know if anyone knows of other stores in the area. I know that there are some places along Atlantic, but have not had a chance to check them out.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

isn't there a furniture store along the southern side of the parkway somewhere, maybe at nostrand?

The furniture store at Nostrand and Eastern Parkway is gone. Just walked by it today and saw guys in there removing debris. Not sure what they are going to put there but if you combine it with the open space above the stores it is a very large commercial space.
Now as far as furniture goes I have done a lot of shopping on craigslist. I've gotten some great antiques and funky stuff and all the money stays local! I got a fantastic oak antique octagon table locally a couple of months ago.
