I haven't seen those commercials ... maybe someone did a Keith Michael and had some cookbooks?
-
I think they shaved Marcel's head. Cliff and Ilan booted for bad behavior/assault.
Final features the fab Elia and Sam. -
i bet they do!! yah they probably totally shave his head.. thats why they don't show their heads in the commercial spot of the judge's table.
I'm sure Marcel, Elia, and Sam will be the final three, seeing as Wednesday is the last elimination episode and they have to ask someone to go home AND probably cut someone at the judge's table..... maybe.
Or maybe they will go with Four like on Project Runway.
watch for the commerical! -
also, have any of you eaten at the restaurants that these "Top Chefs" have worked at?
I know Josie used to work at Marlow & Sons in Williamsburg, Ilan at Casa Mono, Sam of Punch (formerly of Williamsburg Cafe?), Cliff at Salute!, and Tom Collocio (judge) is Chef at Craft and Gramercy Tavern.
Ever eat at those places? -
Tom is no longer part of GT, after a partnership of many years. Danny Meyer bought him out.
-
I've eaten at most of the craft restaurants and derivatives. also at casa mono.
I have a feeling Wednesday night is going to be SUPER dramatic! -
how did you like the restaurants?
-
where is it that Josie works in Ft Greene?
I didn't get much of a sense of her cheffing from the show . . . -
She works at Bonita. Also, she used to live in Prospect Heights above where Beast is now. We used to be friends is how I know, not because I am stalking her.

all pretty awesome. I'd love to eat at wherever Sam is a chef (but only if there's no watermelon and gorgonzola on the menu - BARF), and I think the Carnivores and I are waiting for Harold from last season to open up his restaurant so we can harass him. -
oh and I really dislike Cliff. and Marcel, of course. though I wonder if Marcel will be like Steven from last season and actually end up being pretty cool at the reunion show once he sees how much of a berk he looks like on the show.
-
I'm going to Cliff's restaurant "Salute!" on Wednesday for Restaurant Week deal. I'll let you know how it is.
Man, I'm glad they didn't shave Marcel's head, but I'm getting annoyed that every episode is focusing on how much they hate Marcel. I think they should have just voted Cliff out for his bad food (they were aiming for him anyway) and cut the drama. They should have waited for the judge's table to tell him he was cut.
Who will be the final two? Elia and Sam, I bet, with Sam winning the competition... -
Well I went to Salute! today, and who did I see? Chef Cliff! I asked him where the bathroom was. He was looking pretty good, with facial hair and everything.
The food was great, absolutely great. The first course was an apple-chestnut soup, it was very nutty and thick, with just a little bit of sweetness. The salad I had was pretty ordinary, on the menu it was priced at like $11, and I would have maybe been disappointed if I ordered it at its regular price. The shallot-balsamic dressing was delivered.
The entree was Lamb Shank over pureed parsnips and braised artichokes. It was an extraordinary amount of food and presented beautifully on the bone. Dessert was a nice tiramisu.
It was great, $35 for the three courses (the lamb on the regular menu was $37 by itself).
I was delightfully impressed. If I ever have $60 to spend on a meal again (with wine and coffee), I will go back. -
well whoda thunk it would be ilan and marcel.
i wish the thundercat would go home already. -
hahah i love marcel
-
I really liked Sam, I hoped he would face off against MArcel. I guess the rivalry between Marcel and Ilan makes better TV than Sam's skills. Marcel will end up being Top Chef.

tell me you don't see the resemblance:

he is Tygra. after some serious muscle atrophy. -
Hysterical - that is so funny.
I started out hating Marcel then I felt bad for him that everyone picked on him. I like Ilan but he seems like he is too much of an instigator. I have to agree with Superbrother - I think Marcel will win. I would love to see Betty's face if that happens -
LOL. Poor Tygra has fallen on bad times, are you sure it's not Wiley Kat?
-
I just don't think either of them is a talented enough chef to deserve the title. i think sam and elia were. in this case i think it came down to sheer luck in this one challenge. and that makes me really really sad.

Are you sure that first pic isn't Doctor J?

"A few extra reliable sources, we'll collectively call them Deep Dish, dropped some slightly ambiguous tips with us about the winner of "Top Chef." Yes, the winner, people. We covered the show—and are admittedly addicted—from the beginning because local restaurateur and caterer Betty Fraser was a contender, and it was filmed here in LaLa Land. But even after Badabing Betty was told to pack her knives and go, and even after the finalists went to Hawaii for the last two episodes, we couldn't help note recent events with remaining chefs, New Yorker Ilan Hall and Las Vegasite Marcel Vigneron. Neither has been a fan favorite, and speculation is all over the place about the winner, even down to figuring out which direction Padma was looking when she said, "You're the next Top Chef" in the teaser for next week's episode. Friends, it's time to stop guessing....

He's kind of grown on me too. He's annoying, but not intentionally so. More like an over-excited kid. He's actually really earnest about the whole thing.
And I always thought he looked more like Liono, but your pics prove that he was actually Tygra all along!

gawd i hope so
someone noted that Wylie Dufresne is a judge on the final. He's a chef that seriously knows his way around the decocting and freezing and foaming, so Marcel should be toast.
Isn't xanthan gum a food additive widely used in junk like Hostess Fruit Pies and Wishbone salad dressing and all those Kraft products they've been pushing on the show? In other words, thirty year old icky processed food got there first . . . although that was a clever idea with the pineapple poi, since it's all about a (sort of gross) texture . . .
It was a rotten challenge to begin with. Here's Hawaiian food. Now MAKE Hawaiian food. bah! I'm sorry Elia lost her imagination - peas and carrots and bell pepper ferchrissakes! -
Wylie Dufresne is Marcel's favourite chef. good luck!
-
-
Marcel will defintly win...hands down!!!

That was hilarious. So scathing, and yet so true...

Not likely from what I've heard. I have a friend who was a chef who still knows a lot of people in the business. A few of them know Marcel and they say he's like that pretty much all the time. -
lame.
btw, I know some folks who ate at casa mono the other day and said hello to Ilan.
