A Greetings Card Shop — Brooklynian

A Greetings Card Shop

Last Sunday I had to buy a greeting card and drove all around the neighborhood all the way from fulton to myrtle and bedford to the brooklyn hospital. There was not one card shop available at 11 am.

Where do people buy greeting cards around here ?

Comments

  • Target
And the little card shop on the corner of 5th Ave and Warren (I know this one is out of the way for you though).
  • They used to sell pretty nice cards in the newsstand at the corner of Dekalb and Vanderbilt. Their selection isn't as good now, but in a pinch, it'll do.
  • I'm so glad you asked this question because I've found myself just stocking up when I'm in Manhattan.

I do so too, much more choice around my workplace, but then this was one of those emergency days....either get a card or the wrath of the missus !! it was our anniversary, you know :)
  • The gift shop on on Vanderbuilt - Frosted Moon - between Myrtle and Willoughby has nice cards
  • I recently found unique greeting cards in a hairdressers on Vanderbilt in Prospect Heights, and once bought a card at "Reasons" a florist on Fulton near Cambridge, and another one once at the book store on Fulton near the Clinton/Washington station. I usually go for blank cards with nice images regardless of the occasion, so that's the kind of card I'm talking about here. It is a bit hit or miss, though.
  • "Reasons" is a dump with respect to their flowers. Once had them try to charge me $14 for six limp looking daisies with petals falling off. I think they must have something else going on since they have very little inventory in the shop. Maybe their greeting cards are better.

The person who wants to open a bookstore would do good business by adding greeting cards, some stationary and wrapping paper too.
  • thanks all, for all the suggestions. Now i know where to look the next time around.
  • does the Duane Reade on Myrtle off of Flatbush not sell greeting cards?

the Pharmacy on the corner of Fulton & St. James has a rack of greeting cards.

Duane Reade in the Fulton Mall on the corner of Fulton & Flatbush.
  • Subject: greeting cards

new place on carlton and myrtle a beauty salon called just because, they have great greeting cards, check them out :D
  • There's an odd little gift shop on Myrtle between Washington and Hall (on the north side of the street) that definitely sells greeting cards and balloons.
  • the los pollitos space used to be a card shop. if only they had this level of attention during the lean years!
