Shooting on Clinton Fultion: anyone hear/see anything
I see on Gothamist Newsmap there was a shooting there at 7:54 pm. Anyone around see anything?

I personally was getting off the train at Washington right around this time and saw a fire truck/SUV with sirens heading in that direction, but I didn't think anything of it.

yikes. no, didn't hear a peep.

i walked out my door around 8:45, and there were cops everywhere/an ambulance idling away. i didn't really want to find out which one of my lovely loiterer friends received a lead injection, so i just kept-a-walkin'...

sunday around 5:30pm, cops swooped down on the corner of clinton & fulton again, in front of the bodega, and an ambulance was on the way there too.
i don't know what's going on over there! -

it's strange, been sorta quiet after the saturation patrols they did late 2005 (every night for like a month there was a cop car parked on my corner at gates) after a bunch of girls got mugged and i think there was a rape in the clinton-washington A/C station.also, i'm used to it being a shitshow in the bodega on the east side of clinton, but a couple nights recently in yafa it's been a little kooky too, a lotta people yelling. plus a woman bleated at me like a goat two days ago on fulton and then asked for a smoke, this just a day after this guy came up behind me and almost got a punch in the nose for grabbing my collar when asking for a cig.what's funny is that my landlady is raising the rent on the room next to me by a RIDICULOUS margin as if all of a sudden the lack of a close laundromat/coffee shop/grocery store combined with awesome street crime makes for a totally "must-see" apt.for all the talk about gentrification, shit still goes down here on a daily basis, so everybody should mind their P's and Q's, especially the fairer sex. when i lived in oakland, only white dudes got robbed, where it seems the opposite in CH.

The NYPD "TIPS VAN" with the loudspeakers just cruised around the block, exhorting people with any info on the shooting to call their hotline. They say it was "inside 349 clinton." Musta been particularly messy. Anybody have any more info?

I hear them saying "439 Clinton Avenue" from the tips van.
Is the tips van freaking anyone else out? It's so 1984.
Edited: Nope, they are saying "493 Clinton Ave" which would make the most sense because that's closest to where people are saying they saw a lot of police cars/ambulances the night the shooting took place. -
Actually, it's 493 Clinton. I got it right the THIRTY-EIGHT TIME IT WENT BY MY F'IN' WINDOW!Just talked to a couple beat cops on the corner of Gates/Clinton, they seemed to not know anything happened (they said they were off that night and are normally posted in East New York), or they're just fibbin'. Anyway, look forward to saturation patrols for a bit, I'm assuming. The tips van is not freaking me out, it's just pissing me off, since it's going back and forth back and forth back and forth directly under my window. Last time I saw that baby was in 2003 in Greenpoint, when this Polish lady had her face splashed with acid by some hoodlums hired by a jilted lover. Ah, the old country.

Oh, loudspeakers repeating themselves from vehicles bug me out.
There's something so dictatorship-ish about them.
They're under my window too, we must live on the same block because we posted at the exact same moment. -

Subject: oakland/emeryville compared to ft. green/clinton hill
nomdeplume,
My fiance and I are looking at places to buy, and are considering the ft. greene/clinton hill area. We're seeing a lot of things around Pratt and on clinton ave/willoughby walk. We live on the oakland/emeryville border now near san pablo. how would you compare these areas? We're trying to buy from the west coast so we don't need to move twice, so its tough to check out all the nabes. -

hey evilletransplant... ft. greene/clinton hill's a LOT better than the e-ville/oaktown border on san pablo. up on myrtle, east of pratt can get dicey sometimes, but if you're around clinton, it's totally cool.let's just say i've never been menaced at all around here, walking at all hours, and i got messed with ALL the time around w. oakland.
