Roomie wanted- clinton hill- HUGE ROOM!!! — Brooklynian

Roomie wanted- clinton hill- HUGE ROOM!!!

Hey Guys- I'm gonna post an add that I made on CL looking for a roomie- the open room is HUGE and I'm barely ever home so its basically like living alone. Check it out and email me at [email protected] if interested!

Huge room for rent in 3 bedroom apartment on the Bed-stuy, Clinton Hill border (seriously- I'm not a real estate agent trying to sell a place thats WAY in the hood: I've been told my locals that its both Bed Stuy and Clinton Hill.) Move in March 1 (you may be able to start moving stuff earlier.)
The Location: The building is directly on top of the Nostrand/Bedford G station stop on the corner of Bedford and Lafayette. The G train is NOT as crappy as you've heard: I work in midtown M-F, 9-5 and I commute via the G every day with no problems (the L is actually less reliable by far than the G.) Late night it sucks, but all trains suck late night. We are actually in a good spot on the G line- 4 stops of Hoyt and the connection of the A/C (which is 1 stop to the F at Jay St or 3 stops into LES,) and 4 stops from the L (at Metropolitan/Lormier- 2 stops into the city.) The apartment is about 5 blocks from Pratt on a safe, 2 lane well-light main street. The entrance to the building is very bright, theres ALWAYS cops around, and you can literally see the train from your bedroom window. There are also two busses right outside (I dont take them, but I think they go to Williamsburg) and another few around the corner. Theres bodegas, a decent grocery store (Bravo) around the corner on the same block, and 3 different laundry facilities within 4/5 blocks. I'll be honest- not tons of happening bars in the immediate area, but theres delivery AND if you walk up lafayette or dekalb about 4 blocks you're at the Pratt/Clinton Hill area and theres lots to eat/drink up there. Its a $5 car ride, with tip. I do it regularly.
The Apartment: Don't know the square footage, but its a pretty decent sized place: 3 bedrooms, one bath. You will be occupying the apartment with just me, so we'll have the extra small bedroom as living space. The apartment has no common area built in, which is why I'm renting this as a 2 bedroom. Again, I'll be honest- its an older apartment and it can use some "love" but its not repulsive and we have NO BUGS or rodents! I havnt seen a single roach or ant EVER. Basically all the furnishings are going to be taken when the current roomies leave, so we'll have a livingroom to "make," dishes to buy and pots and pans to get. If you've got stuff, great! If not, we'll take an inventory and figure out who wants to buy what. No biggie. We also have rooftop access (from a normal, non-trap door) and a view of the city thats pretty nice when its clear. The building is full of artsy fartsy, very friendly pratt students who like to BBQ in the summer. Score!
The Room: You have the largest room in the apartment (way way bigger than mine and the smallest one.) Its on the front of the apartment and has two large windows that soak in sun, an accessable fire escape for pretty plants and is on the opposite end of the apartment from my room (the extra room/kitchen/bathroom seperate us.) The room does not have a closet, but there current roomie has a rolling rack and dresser and all that and it works fine. The room is honestly really big, and you could fit a wardrobe in it easily. The downside- the room is painted a fugly navy blue on one wall with some kinda japanese character on it (although current roomies are saying they might paint it.) The upside- you can paint whatever you want to cover it up! And seriously the room is huge. HUGE.
The Hood: ok its bed stuy. Don't waste your time if you're looking for Park Slope. Be alert and don't be stupid and you'll be fine. I'm a 23 year old fairly small white female and have had NO problems whatsoever. Most of the neighbors are cool, and honestly the hood is the quietest I've lived in. So don't be scared. I promise!
Your roomie (ME!) I am, as I said, a 23 year old female professional, working full time in the city. I usually leave at around 8AM and dont get home till 8PM. I don't smoke or do drugs, but I do drink (although not heavily- there's always a bottle of wine in the fridge!) I don't usually have people over because right know there's three of us in the apartment and NO living space (not really much room to hang out in!) but I would like to start doing some dinner party things and whatnot if I can get some more space together. I'm really low-key, don't have a live-in boyfriend, and no pets- my talents include making quiches and dying people's hair day-glo colors. I am not bipolar, reclusive or someone who will steal your stuff. I clean the bathroom, wash my dishes, and respect your space. If you're a girl I might ask to borrow your tweezers, and if you're a boy I might ask you to change a lightbulb if I can't reach it. Thats about as nosey as I get. I have roomie references from two states if need be.
You: 23+ male or female, EMPLOYED or a FULL TIME STUDENT with verifiable income. I will be on the lease but you will be signing an agreement saying you'll pay me- I ask if you're a student that a parent co-signs. Please don't smoke in the house, 420 ONLY IN YOUR ROOM if you do that- none in the common space! I cant stand it...sorry. NO PETS. NONE. I know your cat is cute and doesnt smell and whatever but no, no no no no pets. None. Never. Fish ok. Birds/hampsters not ok. It would be pretty sweet if you worked nights since I work days, but whatever. I eat meat and cook/keep it in the house so if thats an issue...don't bother. Please don't be anal about sharing stuff (like do we really need two containers of milk in the fridge? Can we both buy toilet paper please?) And try to be kind of clean (dishes especially, the kitchen is pretty tiny.) Overnight guests are cool, visiting out of towners are fine, whatever as long as they're not staying for weeks at a time. As long as you're quiet when you get home and don't wake me up when I have to work the next day, I don't care! Also- I am willing to work with couples if you guys want to share the big room- if that interests you, i'll figure out the rent situation.
Rent is $700 + half of bills which include cable/net, electric and gas. Your rent is a bit more than mine because your bedroom is like 30% larger and has bigger windows and whatnot, plus the you'll be using more electricity in the summer on AC (but we'll still split it evenly within reason.) Rent is due by the 1st of each month, and if you feel more comfortable writing a check directly to our landlord I can include two checks (I've been screwed by roomies before too.) Deposit of 1 months rent/first months rent required to hold the room (so $1420 to move in,) which will also be helping me to get the utilities switched over to my name.
I want to have this room secured by 02/15- come visit! Email me and I'll set up a time for you to come see the place. My current roomies are moving out 2/18, so you can take some time to move your stuff in free of charge OR if you decide to move in completely earlier, I'll pro-rate the rent $100.
Showing this weekend- email me for a time!
