If you read the links Violet sent, that's pretty much your area. I've been down on Pacific Street only west of Kingston, and it's a little run-down (just that one block, Kingston to Brooklyn). But once you get acclimated I think you will be happy. But as everyone says, you should go hang out there (during the day, and at night) to see if the vibe is comfortable to you. Also walk around and get a snack, check out the shops, etc., to get a feel for the area. To me it's fine. Very close by (in Restoration Plaza) there's the nice big grocery store, Super Foodtown; there are a few vegetable stands in the immediate area; also plenty of bodegas; restaurants (nothing fancy, but still--Chinese, roti, patties, fast food, etc.); excellent pizza (Kings delivers and it's really good ... mmm, Kings pizza!); seven or eight blocks north/east is Bread Stuy (coffee shop) and a few blocks farther up is Solomon's Porch (restaurant, I hear with live music) (I've never been to either one); BP is open 24 hours (for coffee and snacks); Essence bar is a few blocks east on Atlantic, and I just went to Starlite bar (on Nostrand and Bergen, I think, maybe a ten-minute walk from you) and had a really great time (they were encouraging people to go out for karaoke night on Thursdays). You're just a few blocks from the C train (and only a few more from the A express). Also there are buses (on Fulton, Nostrand, Kingston, Dean, etc.) going everywhere! There are so many places I'm sure I don't know about too (if anyone has recommendations for shops or restaurants not too far from Pacific and Kingston, I'm open to any suggestions)! --E.

PACIFIC AND KINGSTON AVE. THE AREA LOOKS ROUGH, BUT THE BEST WAY TO CHECK OUT A CERTAIN STREET IS TO REALLY SEE IT IN THE SUMMER TIME. I THINK THAT BLOCK IS PRETTY QUIET....OF COURSE KINGSTON AVE. IS A BUSY AREA.....
Howdy, Stranger!
