???WTF: Did your trash get picked up?

My usual trash pick-up time is early friday morning. It' s almost noon on Saturday and my whole block still has the trash on the curb!? I'm off of 5th ave. Anyone else have a similar problem or can explain this to me?
Was it due to the ice on the curbs?
Should I bring the trash back in?

Comments

  • Our mid-week pickup was delayed, I think, due to the weather. Maybe they are still running behind schedule.
  • I'm so mad about this. Your car gets snowed in you get a ticket but they can't pick up he trash????

Wouldn't it be great if you got a $65- tax rebate every day they didn't do what they were supposed to do...
  • (sigh)
it's just what happens when they use all the sanitation people for clearing roads
    take your trash in
Monday is a holiday, so no pickup then either
it's a crapshoot as to whether they'll pick up Monday trash on Tuesday - sometimes they manage to do that after a holiday, but sometimes no

the mayor backed off on that ticket blitz btw - it's on the cover of today's NYT, below the fold
  • The sanitation people did not clean the roads either.
  • Subject: appalling

its appalling that sanitation vehicles are being used to plow heavily used streets in NYC rather than staying on schedule to up trash on side streets in park slope. absolutely appalling
  • No what's appaling is that in Crown Heights we haven't had a trash pickup since LAST Monday. Monday no pickup because of the non-holiday holiday, Wednesday because of the weather and Friday because of clean-up. We are up to our armpits in trash around here.

I think this is sarcasm - right? It was just my perspective that people with cars in new york are just as bad as people with kids... as to people with cars and kids - fuggedaboutit...

I'd much rather have the trash picked up...
  • Well, if they give me a ticket for putting too much trash out next week, I'll get back at them by starting a rant on this board!! :lol:
  • I would just leave the trash out -- they will probably get to it.

The trash I put out on Friday night for Saturday pickup was actually picked up late Friday night, so they are ahead of schedule over here.
  • On Thursday I watched a front end loader owned by the dept of sanitation..in the process of clearing the bus stop in front of my house... scoop up my garbage can which was out because I was still waiting for a collection that was delayed and squash it to pieces...I know that the driver must have seen it and for some reason did it on purpose..when I came out an yelled at him he said "you should have brought your can in when it wasn't collected..where is your common sense"??? meanwhile I had called 311 twice and they said to leave it out that the collection would be late...So I brought my now ruined can in and a few hours later the garbage was collected..to add salt to my wounds..
  • hmm...Saturday morning pick up somehow picked up Sunday day over here...
  • Our trash was finally picked up Saturday night. The last pick-up before that was Feb. 7th. They have yet to take the recycling, so the sidewalks have been littered with cardboard for two weeks now. Can't blame it all on the storm since last Monday's missed garbage pick-up was before the snow.
  • They finally took our trash this morning.
I'm still confused because tomorrow, Tues., is our trash day again, will they come back or wait till the end of the week?
    I give up.
  • I saw on the news that they were behind due to the "severe ice storm" and that they were paying workers overtime to have them collect today.
