  • So the place is opening tomorrow. I went by today and they were hiring staff. I actually don't mind the way they refitted the marquee to go with the lights inside.

I saw it open yesterday. Yeah, the marquee looks good. The north side has "welcome to American APparel" or something, and the south side still has some nutty anagram :)

  • Does this mean that from now on, the beleaguered denizens of ProHo will have to rent Van Hellsing? Ohno!
  • Our au pair just came back from there with a bag of stuff. Am I supposed to scold her?

In one breath we don't want sweatshops, in the other we call their items too expensive...it costs money to pay people a decent wage, it costs money not to go off shore, but no one is willing to really put their money where their mouth is and pay a little extra for something....we don't want Target but we love a bargain.
Thank you! I totally agree. I work for a company which is struggling to keep onshore development of fabrics and manufacture of apparel, t-shirts specifically. Unfortunately people haven't a clue as to real cost of getting that t-shirt on your back, and how many people are underpaid and exploited in the process. I don't agree with the ad campaign either, but I do believe in fair wages.
