The Living Room Lounge — Brooklynian

The Living Room Lounge

Found this great bar in the South Slope called The Living Room Lounge. It's on 23rd Street off 5th Avenue. I went there on a whim, a friend of mine suggested I stop and take a peek at their Open Mic night. She got the nights mixed up and I ended up there on a Tuesday, apparently, movie night. I walked in, was immediately greeted by Mike, the friendliest bartender alive, sat down, watch The Pirates of the Caribbean and drank my beer. The place is pretty big and I sat on a couch in the back and started daydreaming about the joint. It's got this homey feel to it. After the flick, I sat by the bar and chatted with Mike and the neighborhood folks.

Anyway, just wanted to give y'all a heads up about the place. I think you'll fall in love with it too.

  • It plays Pirates of the Caribbean? Gotta be cool.
  • any relation to the living room on rivington?
  • 23rd St is Park Slope?
  • I can't believe the amount of spam on this forum. The Living Room also spams Craigslist looking for business. Pathetic. Mods, please delete this spam.
  • Whatever there guest... I second Mr. Slopey in that The Living Room is a great bar... Big? The place is huge... Also, if it was spam they would have mentioned the pool table, $4 Guiness on tap, entertainment practically weekly, I think a Pac man game....

I actually didn't know it had a TV... anyway, the bartenders are cool.. the owner is cool. The crowd is mixed and always eventful.

Can you link to the CL post? I couldn't find any. The OP was enthusiastic, but I'm not 100% convinced this is shilling. I think we'll leave it for now and let people form their own opinions, taking everything posted here (especially by unregistered guests) with a grain of salt of course. If the place is really good, other people will say so.
  • Shiling or not (I personally dont think it is) the place is great and worth checking out.
I live right around the corner and am there frequently.
  • I agree with Kiaserkai... Shilling or not the place is a great place. One of the goals of this board should be to contribute to the liveliness and vibrance of Park Slope....

The Living Room is an out of the way place and does not reap the benefits of Park Slope foot traffic... they are doing what they can to survive and prosper.

In conclusion: Guest you suck. And the fact that you use the word "mods" leads me to believe that you are far from a guest of this board.
  • I also like the living room lounge...the place is huuuge!! Like a freakin' gymnasium. I also think this end of south slope isn't getting the attention it deserves...even though after you cross the expressway it does start to look a bit dismal. living room lounge is a great space and hope it sticks around.

READ THE RULES (linked at the top of EVERY page on this site) and BE NICE, please. You can disagree with "Guest" without personally attacking him or her.
  • Carnivore, your're right. I was out of line. I apologize to Guest for saying he or she sucks... I should have just disagreed with him or her not sucking.
  • I like the fact they have Blue Moon on tap. Yum.

Keep it up and we can have the admins give you a "time out".
  • Wait just a second there Carnivore... I can't write that Guest sucks, but you can quote me saying that the Guest sucks?

Also, can you clarify on who the "we" that is going to tattle to the admins is composed of? It it, like, your internet posse?

As for giving me a Time Out, I already subscribe. Hold up.... are you trying to bait me you tricky little meat eater?

The Living Room rocks.... sometimes you can smoke in there.... Cancer mofos....

"We" are the moderators of the board. some users have a problem with that. you shouldn't.
  • Hey DG, Carnivore is right. I am the admin of the board, and I don't like personal attacks. That said, on the Personal Attack Severity Index (PASI), "guest you suck" only rates somewhere between Yawn and Snooze...

But still, I agree with Carnivore that we can do without stuff like that. K? K. Now let's go have some fun.

Oh yeah. Guest is probably right about the shilling. "Daydreaming about the joint"? Come ON...
  • Subject: Just asking...

Shouldn't this be moved to or shared to the Greenwood Heights forum?
  • Yes, move it to the GWH board where it belongs. South Slope...come on! ;)

23rd St./5th Ave. is DEAD ON GWH! Cemetery's a block away anyone!?!

Not a bad bar for "a quick one," but the ownership seems confused as to the "vibe" of the HUGE place which seems to change each month. Except for the burlesque.
  • Wait! I CAN move it to the GWH board, but being biased and "a mod" I'll allow someone else to do it if there fancy takes them there ;)

Actually, being on the PS board may get more traffic to the bar, no?

Cross posting is in the works, I think :)
  • Yippy! We got the threat! GWH in da' house...and at LRL ;)
