taking a gander--union st.(6th and 7th aves.):pigeon related
is anyone going by union street between 6th and 7th avenues today?
if you are not pigeon friendly or open to the idea of being pigeon friendly
, read no further. but there is a bird, a pigeon, on union street that needs help. if you throw down bread or seed he can't eat and i think he has something called trich, which is NOT contagious in any way to humans, and can be treated with medicine but affects the bird being able to eat. I was not able to get him yesterday and hoping to today but I don't know if I can get there.
He is typically I believe across from the Co-op on union street between 6th and 7th but could be on either side of the street and further up or down. He's a standard light gray with dark grey stripes pigeon. It's possible he may have gotten hit by a car by now but he has the standard symptoms of trich where he tries to eat but can't, or gets very little, and is running around feverishly, probably out of hunger and disorientation. One other sign of him: he has reddish feet that are sort of blackish from the grime of the snowy streets (but not all pigeons have this. Pigeons are actually very methodical about cleaning themselves if they can.). If you are able to even keep the bird in a box over night that would be a HUGE help but, if not, to even 'spot' him would be helpful.
thanks.
