BROOKLYN: TWO GROUPS CHARGED IN DRUG SALES Six men were charged yesterday with selling crack cocaine on a residential block off Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights, the Brooklyn district attorney, Charles J. Hynes, announced. Mr. Hynes said in a statement that the men were members of two drug crews that controlled sales on Lincoln Road and Fenimore Street between Nostrand Avenue and Rogers Street. Four other arrests are expected, prosecutors said.(NYT)

  • Way cool. Of course, I'm sure the Vanderbilt Ave. pot trade is safe. What means "police presence?"

There is still a pot trade on Vanderbilt? I thought the cops shut that down years ago. I remember when the back end of beast was one of those "record shops" with LP's on the wall but not for sale. And there was an African store across the street which sold hash of all things. Ah, the good old days.
  • Subject: Drug Bust

I picked up the Metro this morning and say the headline reads "Brooklyn Crack Dealers Busted: Prospect Heights, Lefferst gardnes gangs worked the streets for years, D.A. says." This must be the same bust. It is interesting to me that they call the neighborhoods Prospect Heights & Lefferts Gardens, not Crown Heights. I wonder if this will effect the thriving business on my block (Sterling btw. Washington & Underhill).

Probably not. But one can dream....
