  • Awesome!

    Sorry I couldn't make it.
  • WooHoo! We kick ass! That was totally fun. We should do other high-profile things. Maybe we could do a group clean up of a crappy old lot or something. Or a DH stoop sale (does anyone have a good stoop?).

Thanks again to everyone who ate and hung out and most importantly, to those who organized.
  • WOW! That's really great. :D I want to do a list of who brought what but I won't be able to do it justice. But anyways, here's a stab at it:

Thanks to Stacey for bringing chairs and food, and her husband who served as a "barker" for us!

Thanks to Cupcake, Stacey, Isa, the Medusa family, for manning the table.

Thanks to Oiseau for bringing banana bread and taking off on his bike to bring us bags, a knife, and other stuff we needed.

Thanks to tk for bringing three pies which we sold for $10 a piece!

Thanks to all the people who bought stuff and didn't want change.

Thanks to SODA for letting us set up on Vanderbilt when foot traffic on St. Marks trickled away.

    I'm sure I'm missing a lot, I'm really sleepy!
  • Dang! You done well! I think that sets a PH bake sale record!
  • That is great! I couldn't wait to get back home to find out how much we made.

Sorry for not being able to stay until the end but I am glad that the pie was sold..

It was great meeting all of you finally.

    Thanks everyone for great support.
  • wow, congrats!

also, I totally suck for not showing up, sorry guys. despite being in my date book, this totally slipped my mind.
  • Thanks so much you guys for manning the table (thus allowing me to bake-and-run)!
  • Thank YOU to the bakers and organizers. That plate of chocolate cupcakes lasted 30 seconds in my shop, and I know the lucky people who ate them went to the sale for more. Everything was really, really good!! We have some exceptional baking talent in the hood. Thanks again! :D
  • Wow Cupcake we really did hit over $600 - tell the boss' kid nah nah nah nah nah.

The real credit goes to Cupcake, Emily, Chris and Isa they did the most work there!

It was great to meet everyone and Im so glad this was a success!
  • The amazing thing is that at an average of $2 for a baked goodie that means there were about 300 goodies baked! WOAH! That is really impressive!
  • Okay, anyone who witnessed me standing behind the bake sale table yelling, "I fucking love this neighborhood" will not be surprised to learn that I can't talk about the bake sale without getting very emotional, but I will save my gummy dribblings about the day for my own blog. I will try to help EmilyM out with the "Thank You"s.

    Thanks for Baking!

Hope I didn't leave anyone out.
  • Congrats to all of you...you did a fantastic job with the bake sale! I'm really amazed and impressed that everyone took charge and made such a success out of it. My roommate and I went over and got stuff, then dragged over friends visiting from out of town because the stuff you had was so good.
  • Will someone let me know if photos from the day are made avaliable online?
  • thanks for the vegan options... the cookies were awesome!
  • This is incredible! Great job, guys... Sorry I missed it.

I took some and sent them to Andy so he'll probably put one on the front page. And I know Isa was taking pix as well.
  • I think I bought the last two;) delicious indeed.....
  • Thanks so much for having the sale.

Back to the suggestion about the tag sale - I have been thinking about having a sale for Katrina victims and have many things to donate, but, saddled as I am with the young children (we were with the guy who wouldn't reveal his handle) I haven't been able to get a sale organized.

Be glad to donate and help staff if anyone can take the lead on this.
  • Regarding the tag sale: The outpouring of support for Katrina victims is incredible, but there are many people here that need help. If we do another fundraiser, it would be great to pick a local charity/group as the beneficiary.
  • I like that idea, DH. I'm sure we have some stuff we could contribute, but I probably need a break from manning the tables. Are there any volunteers to take on this project?
  • I have LOADS of stuff I could contribute to a tag sale. I would also be willing to man tables.

That said, my schedule is pretty insane on weekends, so it depends on the date.
  • I am available to help any weekend but this one and the one after it. SO anytime weekend October 8th or later.
  • Subject: Tasty!

The pound cake, ladyfingers, chocolate cupcakes and snickerdoodles kicked ass. I bought and ate ALL OF THEM. Whenever civic duty calls in the form of cupcake-eating, I will answer that call.
