Learn West African (Sene-Gambian) Dance using the mind, body and spirit. This class is designed for all levels, beginners are welcomed! The class will be divided into two four-week choreographed segments, each week reviewing the previous steps, then building from there.
Originally from Richmond, VA, Farrah was initiated and performed with Ezibu Muntu African Dance and Cultural Foundation, Virginia's first and most prestigious African Dance Company. Trained in the U.S and abroad (Senegal, W.A.), she learned to drum and increase versatility in the movements in order to become a better dancer. We have to sync the drum (heart) inside to allow the body to work. Since relocating to Brooklyn in 2001, Farrah has performed with such companies as Bokendeye, Harambee, and a Touch of Folklore and More at the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Bandshell, Union Square Summer Performance Series and the African Street Festival.
