Thursday June 21 Jimmie Briggs Reading Innocents Lost& — Brooklynian

Thursday June 21 Jimmie Briggs Reading Innocents Lost&

There is a very special event that is happening this Thursday June 21st from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Park Slope. Jimmie Briggs will be reading
from his book "Innocents Lost: When Child Soldiers Go To War." Jimmie's book was a finalist for the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award and currently Ryan Gosling of Half-Nelson fame is directing a movie based on
Jimmie's book. There is also a documentary in progress based on his book. Jimmie is the Goodwill Ambassador and U.N. Special Envoy for Children and Armed Conflict and his book sheds light on this issue as a global problem. Like Ishmael Beah's "A Long Way Gone," "Innocents Lost" looks at the emotional impact of war on the lives of these young soldiers. For all of you who have heard Jimmie read before you know how moving the experience can be. For those who haven't seen Jimmie read or haven't met him, you are truly missing out. Books will be available for purchase as well as drinks.

The event will take place at The Well Lounge
329 Flatbush Ave. Park Slope, Brooklyn
