Hi Guys, Someone please explain, I always thought that lent was for 40 days...its supposed to end on Easter Sunday....well from today to Easter Sunday is 46 days.......
Joe P. I have NEVER been to a drive-in move, how pathetic is that...when I first met my husband in 1978, we drove out to Valley Stream only to find out that the drive-in movie theater was no longer there.
Terry - Welcome home -Sounds like you had an amazing time.
Hi Janet, Suzie, Paul, Carol, Patsy, Anthony and Festina and everyone else...
Peek in later. -
janet m horanHi Judy, I thought it was 40 days before Easter also. What happened??? -
janet m horanThat is strange. -

That is just what I started doing. I usually don't eat all day and the metabolism is sluggish then. Now, I force myself to eat a breakfast bar in the am, and keep eating every 2 hours or so. Small things.

anthony umbriaAND A GOOD MORNING TO EVERYBODY ON HERE TODAY
DONT FORGET YOUR ASHES -
janet m horanThat was very funny Paul. -
t-bone51LENT IS 40 DAYS BEFORE EASTER U DONT COUNT THE SUNDAYS I THINK BECAUSE SUNDAY IS THE DAY HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD, SO THEY DONT COUNT THE SUNDAYS BEFORE. -
janet m horanHello Anthony, Getting the Ashes when I go out. -
anthony umbriaI THINK MY WIFE WILL BRING THEM HOME FOR ME -
janet m horanSo, does that mean that Sundays don't count during Lent??? A day off every week, lol. -
paul giglioI keep telling you, its a reccession, Sundays are double time OT, its not in the budget -
janet m horanWOW, I am impressed Terry. You are so right as usual.
In the Western Christian calendar, Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent and occurs forty-six days (forty days not counting Sundays) before Easter. It falls on a different date each year, because it is dependent on the date of Easter; it can occur as early as February 4 or as late as March 10. -
janet m horanAsh Wednesday gets its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of the faithful as a sign of repentance. The ashes used are gathered after the Palm Crosses from the previous year's Palm Sunday are burned. In the liturgical practice of some churches, the ashes are mixed with the Oil of the Catechumens[1] (one of the sacred oils used to anoint those about to be baptized), though some churches use ordinary oil. This paste is used by the priest who presides at the service to make the sign of the cross, first upon his own forehead and then on each of those present who kneel before him at the altar rail. As he does so, he recites the words: "Remember (O man) that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." -
janet m horanI learned a few new things that I obviously forgot over the years. -
