I REMEMBER DAYS AND DAYS PLAYING WITH THAT AND MAKING CHAINS WITH GUM WRAPPERS AND MAKING KEYCHAINS OUT OF THAT PLASTIC STRING IN ALL COLORS..

....playing with a empty refrigerator box all day long-providing it didn't rain
....cutting brooms to make stickball bats...fishing rubber balls out of the
sewer with a wire clothes hanger
....wagons made of scrap wood and old baby carridge? wheels
....scooters with a wooden milk box,a 2 by 4,and a roller skate
.....building a "club house" with old lumber in some vacant lot
.....playing with tops and a yo yo

i remember when doctor's made house calls
...and fresh milk could be delieved to your door
....soda came in glass bottles
....you needed a can opener to .....open a can
.....the daily news was 5 cents.....25 cents on sunday
.....gas was 30 cents a gallon and they checked your oil,clean your window,and gave you plaid stamps
.....when women wore hats and dresses to church
.....and men wore suits

....if you did something bad...the cop gave you a kick in the ass....and when he brought home,you got another one from your pop
....every body had a "real christmas tree"
....food came in paper bags,you bought your meat at the "butcher"
....the local grocer add up your total on a brown paper bag....and never made a mistake
....when the only stores open on sunday were in "jew town"
....and the only chinese were in "chop suey"resturants or in china town in nyc

...the only time you were inside your house was to eat or sleep,or you had company
....i remember the "phone booth",with a by-fold door,a lite ,fan and seat
...candy stores with fountain service and breyer's ice cream

....THE BUS WAS 15 CENTS

....PIZZA..20 CENTS A SLICE

....45 RPM RECORDS....WITH THAT FUNNY PLASTIC ADAPTOR IN THE CENTER

...THE OLD YANKEE STADIUM.....BEFORE THEY RENOVATED IT...WHEN THE MONUMENTS WERE ON THE PLAYING FIELD
....WHEN WE HAD THE "NEW YORK GIANTS" AND THE "BROOKLYN DODGERS"
....WHEN FOOTBALL WAS PLAYED IN YANKEE STADIUM

.....THE WORLD SERIES WAS PLAYED IN THE DAYTIME AND WE TOOK CHEAP TRANSISTOR RADIO'S TO SCHOOL

...OKAY...IT WAS A LITTLE MORE THAN 2 CENTS

HI JOE YOU MADE VERY HAPPY, TALKING ABOUT THE WAY KIDS WOULD CUT BROOM STICKS FOR STICK BALL CO CARTS FROM WOODEN MILK BOXES ROLLERSKATING JUMP ROPE FROM A CLOSE LINE . I WISH I COULD SEE KIDS OF TODAY DOING FUN THINGS LIKE THAT. WE STAYED OUT ALL DAY PLAYING HAVING GOOD AND HEALTHY FUN. WHEN I TELL MY GRANDAUGHTERS THESE STORIES, THEY GIGGLE LOL THEY THINK GRANDMAS MAKING UP STORIES,,,,,STUPID KIDS WHAT DO THEY KNOW

TERRY, I STILL LICK MY PENCIL, AND I DONT KNOW WHY I GUESS I ALWAYS SAW MY MOTHER AND FATHER DO IT. THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION?????? DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER??????

.....i don't know why they would lick pencils....it probally had to do with
what they were made with.....it might have been something differant then they use today...just a guess

....i remember not having air condition or a color t.v.......until i got married

......and new drivers(kids),never started with a new car.....not unless they bought it themselves

...and the fire trucks,returning to the fire house,ringing thier bell....
...to let you know they were on the road

......and those ugly..green and black and white police cars

Remember like Jeantte said we played outside all day, ran up ate diner and ran back dow, We would sit on the stoop at night when we got a little older. We would play, RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT, WE PLAYED MAY I,
TRUE DARE PROMISE OR REPEAT, SIMON SAYS. COCO LIVIO (SPELL) . You did not go home until u heard your mother call u.
I remember playing with ANNAMARIE ROMANELLI all day sometimes. We would play Barbie Dolls all day. oh kids today really miss out on alot.
