judy giordano banjanyThis is a cute poem for those who still hang their clothes out to dry...... Enjoy!!
POEM
A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the "fancy sheets"
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the "company table cloths"
With intricate designs.
The line announced a baby's birth
From folks who lived inside -
As brand new infant clothes were hung,
So carefully with pride!
The ages of the children could
So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed,
You'd know how much they'd grown!
It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.
It also said, "Gone on vacation now"
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, "We're back!" when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare!
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy and gray,
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way . . .
But clotheslines now are of the past,
For dryers make work much less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is any body's guess!
I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line! -

That poem was great and never thought about it that way..It is so true like when David died no more of his clothes on the line. I have to copy that it really is true to life.. thank you
Franny,
Remember that time we were got the sun poisoning or I got it. I could not go to work my face blew up. My lips were gigantic and my eyes were all swollen.
Jamsie Oliver's Dad yelled at me and said I could have died from the way I took the sun. SUN VISOR AND BABY OIL WITH IODINE LOL

chrissy "o" hHELLO MY FRIENDS, HELLO.
JUST BLOGGED TO SAY, "HELLO".
I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERY NIGHT,
AND I KNOW IT'S LATE, BUT I COULDN'T WAIT, HELLOOOOOOO.
WHAT'S UP BROOKLYN ???
What a nice surprise. I came on after months and what do I see...... a mention of my Dad from Terry.
ABOUT TANNING............Maria Tombasco and I would sit in her little yard on 19th Street and squeeze fresh lemons in our hair (for the streaks) and olive oil on our bodies as if we were salads or something. Her father would than come over to us with bowls of piping hot Tripe. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end!
Hope this blog finds my buddy Debbie, Francesca, Janet, Patsy, Anthony, Joe, Suzie, Judy, Festina, Terry, doing well and enjoying life.
Hello Helen. I'm not sure if I know you, but it's nice to see new, old friends on the blog.
Glad the Reunion is up and running. It should be another exciting event. Janet, the flyer was very nice. You are so computer saavy........so talented, cuz.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

janet m horanHello gang. Been busy all day with the kids here.
Because I let them download music from Limewire, I had a Trojan Virus.
Had Symantec (Norton) repairing it remotely for the past few hours.
Now, the computer is free and clear. What a pain. You can also get this same virus from opening Video Clips or downloading Videos. -
janet m horanThanks Christina. Most people didn't get the actual Flier, just the
information from it. -
janet m horanJust checking my Ebay and waiting to hear from the kids and my son. I am beat.
Had to go down to his house this am to stay with them while he went to a meeting.
Made them Breakfast, but was there last night until after mid night, so I was
dead to the world this am and still am tired. -

chrissy "o" hJANET,
You need a vacation. It sounds like you're doing a million things. Nice to see your face again.
To James Oliva fans...................did you hear my brother is retiring from the Transit Authority. I believe it's going to be on June 1st. He is not 60 yet, but he wants to leave now. He will continue to work security. I LOVE HIM TO PIECES.
